Freddy,
My information is from the memory of a young child who was fascinated by his grandfather shaving.
I would like very much to be able to buy that razor which still lives in my memory.
Perhaps I can start here.
I think it was a two piece with a knurled handle. Double edge blade. Razor was chrome colour.
It may have been Gillette. He always used Gillette blades. Their little box was distinctive.
It had a unique feature that my grandfather used every day as he always took the blade out, wiped it and sharpened it by rubbing it inside a yarzeit (drinking) glass. He then put the blade down on the side of the sink and wiped the razor.
This is where that feature comes in. The razor had a small, round, flat magnet inlaid in the end of the handle. He always used that to pick up the blade.
I have never been able to locate such a razor.
I just looked at Celestino's suggestion. It is very comprehensive but lacks detailed descriptions.
I will wait to see if this post does anything. If not I will copy it to DFS as andrewjs18 suggests.
Thank you all,
Mickey
P.S. This is Haim Brudiu (Harry Brodie) (AKA Zadie Brodie) circa 1885 at 25 years old.
