Curious if others here find the X3 to be too mild? I needed to use pressure due to lack of blade exposure.
I actually have had more time with the X3...and have different views than my initial review....I find the razor to be mild and the lack of blade exposure doesn't cut as efficiently as my 102. I have a hard time cutting areas that are softer (cheeks). Oddly enough, I am finding the Weber PH to be the same way...not as efficient as I would like. DFS but very hard to achieve BBS.

I, for one, need more time and different blades to form a better opinion, but so far I agree. There definitely is the temptation to increase the pressure, because using the almost non-existent pressure I’m used to with my other razors, it feels like the X3 is accomplishing nothing.
Now, the thing is, just like with the 102, something is definitely happening, but you just can’t really feel it. I like more feedback from the blade, but will keep using the X3 for now. Sometimes opinions change with time & more experience with a product.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

The X3 on my thick beard is smooth and efficient. The angle at which you have to hold it does not have much play room, so if you don't have it right then it won't cut. It's like the AS-D2 with the angle, which means you either get a very efficient shave or a worthless shave. However, it does have a little more play room on the angle than the AS-D2, but only a tiny amount.

Some say it's just like the 102 but for me it is night and day. I could not get along with the 102 at all on my neck. It was okay on my face, but the head was so wide I would get cuts on my face sometimes too. It destroyed my neck every time I used it but it did take the hair off. 2 weeks with the 102 and I could not get through a single shave without a few nicks minimum on my neck. However, the X3 is the complete opposite. It is almost as forgiving and smooth as the AS-D2, and just as efficient. I still prefer to use the AS-D2 for my ATG pass on my neck but the X3 will do just fine as long as I take it easy. Most of the time I shave the first pass with the X3 the remainder with the AS-D2. I tried several blades to include Kai, Vokshod, Platinum LUX, Polsilver SI, and Astra SP. My favorite is Astra SP followed by Polsilver and Platinum Lux.

I might have to check one out. the 102 doesn't seem to do it for me either.

When I read accounts that are so wildly different from my own experience and even accounting for the YMMV factor, I wonder if there aren't a few lemon razors out there that have something just off in the geometry or something. I know that its unlikely that someone trying a razor for the first time and having really crappy shaves with it will assume the razor is a lemon and go out and buy another one but it has been known to happen occasionally. For me both the 102 and the x3 are really nice razors but I give the nod to the 102 but only by a whisker. (Sorry, I couldn't resist) I'm glad that the x3 is working out for you. If I were giving friendly advice to someone who was choosing between buying the 102 or the x3 and money was a factor, I'd recommend the x3 because (for me) it shaves very much like the 102 but is much cheaper - especially if you already have a suitable handle lying around. If money wasn't a consideration, heck, why choose? Buy both

I'm incredibly jealous of the people who can use whatever razor they want without any negative impact to their skin. for myself and a few unlucky folks like Hobbyist and probably you, we're stuck using specific razors that are forgiving on our sensitive skin.
