It is quite heavy. But this is what some sale sites say:

“Satin finish, solid Aluminium.”
http://connaughtshaving.com/scsbs.html

“The head is made from iKon's proprietary solid aluminum composite.”
https://www.italianbarber.com/products/i...fety-razor

“CNC Machined Aluminum.”
https://shavenation.com/products/ikon-sb...our-handle

It’s interesting that they all use slightly different wording.

I'll remind that I saw the Tech similarly described and found copper underneath when I polished it.

Well, and like you said, the SBS head is unusually heavy, even though it obviously has more material than an average razor head. I find the words “proprietary … composite” intriguing on that one product page.

I was just looking at iKon razors at Italian Barber and SBS on there described as being made from iKon's proprietary solid aluminum composite. That kind of leaves the door wide open, doesn't it? Just the word "composite" could lead to many things. So, yeah, I think you gentlemen are onto something here. Actually, the word "proprietary" puts it all into the world of secret formula.

They are made from an Aluminium alloy (6061-T6) & not CNC machined. iKon does not specify/reveal the manufacturing process but whether these are pressed, cast or MIM, this will not effect the finished piece.

p.s. several people have polished ShaveCraft heads with no issue including myself. They are solid 6061, however iKon's finish is the best for regular use & I would recommend a lacquer if you really want a mirror finish.

Paul I have posted photos of the copper layer which showed through the cap on my Shavecraft Tech when polished . It is not solid aluminum. Here again:

Paul, thanks for your reply. I was actually wondering whether the SBS head could be polished. I may just give it a try at some point…

I will, thanks. Not sure yet if/when I’ll get around to doing it, but I’ll post my findings on this or some other relevant thread.

Did you finish polishing it?

I mean, once you went that far, did you even it all out and find a uniform material underneath worth polishing?
Shave yourself.
