Last week I put in an order for the new Parker Slant razor at Super Safety Razors which was delivered yesterday and gave me a very good shave. But, that's not the reason for this post. My thing is the sample of shaving cream that was included in my order. Howie, the owner of SSR who is great at adding little samples of stuff, threw in a little jar of their new shaving cream that comes in an 8oz pump container, the Lavender/Lime scent. I decided to give it a go with last nights Slant shave. The shave cream is nearly of a hand lotion type of consistency with a very nice Lime scent that is pronounced but, not too sharp as you can still get a nice subtle whiff of the Lavender that is clean and lightly floral. Again, it's Lime through and through which I really liked.

I poured out maybe a small sized almond amount of the cream into my bowl and went to it with my damp Graydog Badger gradually adding a few drops of agua 2-3 times. Goodness gracious! What a lather was had. Thick and rich that was ready to go within a minute of starting. I honestly had enough lather for almost 2 full shaves. I regret not taking a couple of pics. Perhaps on my next shave I'll post a few.

Anyways, the lather provided excellent protection and glide with above average residual slickness. 2 passes with a minor chin buff and it was near BBS, definitely a DFS shave. No irritation, nics or cuts and a very smooth and supple feeling skin afterwards. I was thoroughly impressed on just its first outing. The scent is great, the lather phenomenal and the post results were top notch.

I'll finish off the sample and get a few more shaves in just to make sure it wasn't a fluke but, I can dial in some soap and get healthy amounts of lather from just about anything and this here was no different. I just might look into getting a full sized jar if the results are consistent. Follow up shaves and pics coming.....

I'll have to give that stuff a try. I'll be honest, I've never seriously considered Taconic to be products worth using but your experience has led to a reconsideration of my biases.

Thanks

You know, before I tried this sample you wouldn't have gotten an argument from me. I've tried a couple of their previous hard soaps and though they were ok, it wasn't enough for me to keep them in a steady rotation or even a once or twice a month thing. This stuff on the other hand really stopped me in my tracks. They must have tweaked something or did an about face with their formula base. It really did a good job.

Their shave cream in a pump bottle is excellent, too.

I have two of their shave creams in the small jars. It's excellent and I don't know why no one (including myself, haha) ever mention it.

EXTREMELY slick
ORGANIC ingredients
GREAT results

(I haven't tried the shave soaps in the tubs nor this newer pump bottle stuff)

Here are a few photo clips of the Taconic Lavender Lime shave cream. I didn’t really use much, just two small sample spoon full dollops....

15 secs into the build with a couple drops of water to get it going with the damp Maggard Synthetic....

About 30 seconds in and a few more drops of Agua...

I added a couple more drops, maybe a teaspoons worth of H2O and about a minute in it’s ready to go. As some of you know and for those that don’t, I take my soaps very close to the breaking point as I prefer a very wet and slick lather. Though there are some very tiny air bubbles in the soap it still has a very nice and dense body. It goes on lusciously smooth and creamy with very good staying power without a hint of drying out.

And yes, I ordered one 8oz pump bottle of the Lavender Lime and a tub of the Tequila Lime cream earlier today. This shave cream has proven to be a worthy addition to my shave den....

Taconic was my first ever soap when I got into this hobby. The one I had was a cream that was close to a croap consistency, and was in their Eucalyptus & Mint scent. My lathers were not great back then, but that was most surely no fault of Taconic. Good to hear that they are still making great products.

Another fine shave cream from Taconic. This one is the Tequila Lime scent and man does it deliver in scent and performance. More Lime dominant but, if you’ve ever smelled a good Blue Agave Tequila which has that tart/sour and herbaceous like scent, this cream has it. Very, very nice aroma and extremely pleasing. The performance again is top notch and this is a true shave cream which is a bit thicker than the shave cream that comes in the hand pump jar. Equal in all aspects in regards to protection, glide and slickness to the Lavender Lime rendition. I must say that these shave creams have been an excellent surprise and both have earned their stay in my rotation of soaps and creams.

A couple of picks of the jar, label contents, ingredients etc... This stuff is slicker than Llama snot.

This product reminds me of Wm Neumann's shaving creams, which seem to have been discontinued. My 8-ounce jugs of the stuff are served up in plastic pump containers. One squirt is plenty for a shave, and there are many, many squirts in each jug. The viscosity is similar to hand lotion, but the lather ability and performance are as good as any. I didn't know of any other product similar until I read this thread--I'll have to try this one too. Bill, if you're reading this, please bring back the Wm Neumann shaving creams.
