How frequently do you shave?

I use a DE most days, but use either a shavette or straight razor a couple of times a week. Pretty much shave every morning.

Remember when it was called Oil of Ulay, maybe that was just in the UK.

I try to shave every day with an odd day off here and there if I'm in the mood
I enjoy the Shaving ritual. Never a chore
If my face is feeling a little sore I'll take a day off.

I shave everyday when working and give it a miss when I'm off, I enjoy the shaving experience , never a chore!!

To my knowledge, it has always been called Oil of Olay in the States.  I knew it as Oil of Ulay in Scotland and hadn't realized it had changed.  However, that has happened with everything from candy bars to cat food.  It is what I call the McDonaldization of the world and I find this sameness, no matter where I travel, rather boring.

Ok so I have a question for you guys. How frequently do you shave with a safety or straight razor? The first time I shaved, I think I went about 4 days or so before I shaved again, and that time I moved to 3 passes from 2 the first time. Then I went about 2 days to try and keep the stubble tamed. However this time I also did a 3 pass shave and ended up with razor burn and a few bumps which give me a few nicks. Even after I used the alum with cold water, it burned my face like crazy, but did not leave my face red. The next day at work, it felt like my face was on fire, and I had a few bumps, but no redness. Is that normal?

Either way, I think I've narrowed it down to shaving every 3 or 4 days to cut down on sensitivity and razor burn.

Any similar experiences and thoughts?

Every two days when I first started wet shaving, now I Shave everyday with no irritation. Once your face gets used to the trauma of everyday shaving it should be no problem. This is with a safety razor. Stay smooth

Military so... At least Monday through Friday. I also enjoy the ritual so I do my best to get in at least one shave on the weekends. My face holds up well but that's probably because I have leather for skin on my face

I shave everyday except Fridays usually. It took me sometime and tinkering with technique, soaps, blades, post shave to be able to shave everyday though. I used to shave EOD.

During my work week, except on casual days, I shave every other day. I found (today actually for the first time) that there is a benefit to multiple passes. Typically, before work, I would shower & then shave, but technically with only 1 pass. This 1 pass would include multiple strokes without a re-lather.

Today, I shaved very lightly, with a new blade (Feather), and re-applied lather, for pretty much a total of 3 passes. The 3rd pass was more of a cleanup. To finish, I used Fine Platinum aftershave. The shaving cream I used is Nivea Sensitive Skin, and for a while I was also using the Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, which worked really well.

Long story short (too late, I know!), today was probably the best shave I have had yet, and as I am posting this appx 13 hours after my shave, I have a small amount of growth, but my skin feels amazing and not irritated at all.

So, like someone already said, technique & product are key, and knowing your skin. The good thing is, you already know what you did to irritate it, so now you just have to work from there.
