We’ll make this short and sweet. I’ve ran a few of these and I asked andrewjs18 before moving forward and I’ve got his blessing to kick this off. For those that have participated, it’s the same old, same old. For those that are new, there are just a few simple guidelines/rules to follow and everyone should have no problem in doing so. It’s not rocket science, just common sense and timely use and being aware that we just want the ball to keep rolling so that all those that participate can get a fair shot of getting some decent quality shaves in. Since there are quite a few base plate sizes here, we’ll add a couple more days if one needs to in order to try all the gap sizes available.

Rules/Guidelines:
1. Razor Will be shipped in a flat rate “Medium” sized box via USPS Priority 2-3 days. The razor will be insured for the amount of $250 which would be an additional $3.50 to the total cost (example: $9.00 shipping + $3.50 insurance) of shipping the razor. I ask that when you ship to hold onto the receipt until the item has been confirmed to be delivered and verified by the participant. Easier to open a claim if the razor is lost or falls off the grid somehow as these things can occur. Hang onto them, it’s important for opening claims and such.
2. I ask that you keep the razor no more than 10 days from the date that you’ve received the package. Notify and post here in the thread that it’s in your hands and your count time begins. JUST COMMUNICATE AND LET US KNOW. It only takes a few seconds to post. I know it sounds childish but, I’ve seen individuals receive an item and never post a thing until stating that it was shipped. Keep us in the loop is all.
3. If you find that the first two rules are too strict and not to your liking, simply don’t sign up. Easy as that.

Just have fun Gents and enjoy your shaves. We’d love to see you post your thoughts and experiences with the razor and you may do so as you see fit. Post every shave, fine. Get all your shaves in then write up a summation, that’s fine too. However you want to do it is up to you. But, we love seeing write ups & pics too (optional of course).

First come first served. If you want to join, just copy and paste the list to your post and add your name (screen name) to the list.

Heavy work day and just got my shave in. Today I used the 1.10 OC plate with the Sputnik blade that I used on the very first shave. Got some good suds with the Grooming Dept. Citric and went to work on 2 full days worth of facial whiskers. On the very first pass and actually the first stroke, there is a very nice feel in blade action and I knew this was going to be an efficient yet smooth shave. On the first pass this razor did not disappoint in taking down some serious growth. Intuitive, easy on the skin with just a bump up in blade feel that was very pleasing. To me, it feels fairly close to a .95 Timeless OC in it’s efficiency though, the Timeless feels more solid perhaps because of the thicker & heavier head compared to the ultra slim Hummingbird. Still, the Hummingbird had no issue with blade deflection or skipping while performing each of my passes and it knocked down the hairs without a single issue. I was pretty much done with a DFS in two but, decided to give myself the full Dolphin Smooth effect and went with some buffing around the chin & jawline as my cheeks and neck were already there. I didn’t use enough suds on the chin and I gave myself about 3 weepers just going left to right and vice-versa. This razor even with the OC design takes everything with it. Re-lather every time is my suggestion when touching up or buffing. Even just with the 1.10 gap this razor can get busy if you’re lazy or just nonchalantly going through the motions. You’ll see a couple red dots and say to yourself “how’d that happen?” It’s that subtle. It’s a performer. Aside from the weepers there was no irritation to speak of and the alum pass did not mark any burners. 3 weepers but, an excellent finish. I can live with that.

I’ll try to get another shave in tomorrow with the 1.30 depending on the work schedule. If not, it’s on to Saturday Morning for the next shave.  Looking forward to the next two gap sizes and see if it maintains some smoothness while ratcheting up the gap and blade feel.

Happy Shaves Comrades.........

I’m done with my shaves with the Hummingbird Prototype as I got a shave in with each plate. And every single one of them were very good to excellent. I would have liked a bit more time with them but, I’d really like to get this thing going so that others can get a feel and perhaps collectively a better picture can be painted on how this razor performs as a whole. Either way, the Gents on this list are going to experience some pretty interesting shaves. If one wants to get a quick idea on what is potentially coming, just take a read here at the link below.

Anyways, the razor has been cleaned, sanitized in Barbecide and then dipped in alcohol to displace any residual water Left from disinfecting.

There will be 5 base plate plates with varying gap sizes with one top cap & handle as you see below.

I urge everyone to think of the next guy. Just make sure you give the razor a good cleaning and disinfecting before moving it on. Barbecide I believe is not really necessary as a mild cleaner and Isopropyl Alcohol should be enough. I just like being on the safe side especially with all the concerns on COVID-19. The razor is all packed up and ready for the first participant who is rawfox1 and I’ll be getting this out to him either tomorrow or by Wednesday the latest. I’ll pm tracking info once the item is shipped....

Any updates on this passaround?

Received razor and will shave once more on Sunday and ship it Monday. Will give final write up then. Quick feelings are it is nicer in design than the Start but the Start offers a much smoother and just as efficient shave. The 1st 2x it just felt too harsh. I will try it 1 more time with a 3 day growth
