Hi all,

here's the latest pass around list. please keep the razor for about a week and then pass it off to the next person on the list. Once you get time, please share your thoughts in here whether positive or negative.

Before shipping the razor, please try giving it a quick alcohol bath or something of that sort to help minimize risks.

Just got my Henson razor from jbreakfield yesterday. Neck and cheek shave this morning was very nice with a GSB blade and Nuavia Blu Soap. I'm really excited to try this on my head, andrewjs18 says it's the best he's tried so far, so hopefully I get similar results! That will likely come tonight or tomorrow.

Pulled out my Ti medium last night and gave it a quarter twist off full tightness. I got a wonderful 3 pass BBS that didn’t show stubble for 14 hours. Glad I kept it.

Not sure if it is relevant to this thread as I did not test them by the passaround but I got the Henson AL13 in Mild and Medium a few weeks ago. Honestly, I dig both of them. Mild, efficient and they have more heft than I thought I'd get from an aluminum razor. Very happy with both purchases honestly.

Package received. Will get to give a few shaves in the next week. Arrived just after the Carbon pass-around so I’ve got a busy week!

First shave with the pass-around today.  I must say that I am seriously impressed.  I had one day's growth since I shave almost every day.  I used what you see below (the brush is an Elite with Manchurian White). I went with a Bic blade since I find it to be, along with a Feather, the blade I chose when I want something sharp. From the first pass, I figured out the angle (kind of hard not to with this razor) and I liked that I was finding some blade feel. I was worried that it would be too quiet and I like sensing what's going on.  But it was a smooth and easy shave -- perhaps almost too easy. I found myself pressing more than I probably should have and was buffing a bunch both because I wasn't sure that it was actually getting that close in and because I like heavier razors. I like feeling the weight of the head. This one is, obviously, so light.  I did get one tiny weeper where I worked too hard but it went away with the AS.  In any event, after three passes and when I had finished, I was surprised -- and impressed.  My concern was that it would be too inefficient and not provide a close enough shave. But I got a BBS or practically so.  Hours later, I'm still feeling pretty good.  Obviously, it wasn't the closest shave, but it really did work. I'm going to try it another day or two with other blades and, now that I know it works, I want to see if I can dial in a bit and go without unnecessarily pressing or buffing.

Two more shaves with the Henson.  More easily addressed:

Feb. 2 -- Henson with a Gillette 7 O'Clock yellow.  Pretty much the same reaction as I had with my first shave, discussed above, but this time I felt the lack of closeness more accutely.  I found it fairly easy to do the passes but I was continually wanting more efficiency or, dare I say it, aggressiveness.  When I got to my third, ATG pass, I felt as though I should pick up another razor to get me to the desired level of reduction.  Almost reached into the cabinet to pull out another razor and then I said, "well, I just go like this today."

Feb 4 (today):  Today, I decided to try a Feather.  Either the blade was bad or a Feather doesn't play well with this razor.  From the first swipe, it was a harsh and unpleasant time.  Not good for me.  In fact, today, I did pull out another razor to finish up.  Two little weepers and a great deal of awkwardness for those first two passes.  I was rather surprised, tbh.

Altogether, this is an interesting razor.  I'm not wildly comfortable with a razor this light and the smoothness that it can offer has a price in closeness.  Not necessarily the razor for me. But I do know that if I wanted to lure a friend away from cartridges, this would be my suggested choice. The price is fantastic for a razor that allows room for error and gets the beard taken care of.  A year ago, when I was still using cartridges, I would have thought this was a holy grail shaver; now, I guess I push myself into more demanding terrain.  All in all, I end up where I began:  I'm very impressed by this design, price, and the ability Henson offers of such things as different colors.  And I'd really like to thank Henson for sponsoring this great pass-around and Andrewjs18 for making it happen.

Will be sending it off to Ketotrader in the next few days!

Thanks again.
