I recently acquired a NIB MERKUR HD- said razor my first purchase in this pursuit and have come full circle. There was a period several years past when MERKUR marketed what in kindness looked like last ditch Mauser 98s mid 1945. PARKER'S first razors were junk and they turned things around and made very nice, low price units. My new HD is, unlike thefirst a keeper. With all the timely talk about S/S companies the less expensive names been pushed into the shadows. Anyone noticed a change, or was I just lucky?

I believe I read they replaced the molds used for the razors within the last year or two.

I had one several years back that had some issues as well. It’s a great design though.

In 2016 they changed the molds on the Progress. They are very open about the fact the old ones wore out. The new Progress has very different notches where the top/bottom cap line up. Great razors. Merkur can stand with anything made today!
