I received my Ti 083 this morning. Actually got through customs quicker than they usually manage. Can’t wait to shave tonight….

By the way, Aji posted pics of another new razor on his Instagram yesterday. It’s called the Titanium Efficient, I believe, and will be released in a couple of weeks, but can be pre-ordered now. In answer to my questions he confirmed it is a very efficient but mild-feeling razor - little blade-feel, and efficiency somewhere between the N075 and P076 razors, which seems to be the grail for many shavers. It looks good and Aji said he is offering a no-questions return policy for this particular razor, so he must be confident.

Curious to see what you think of that 083, hopefully he can get us the newer one on a pass around.

Had my first shave with the Ti 083 yesterday. I need a few more shaves to be sure what I think, as the differences from the P076 do not seem to be large. Also I have been using my copper P076 the most lately and I think I need more than one shave to adjust back to the lightness of the titanium (I do have a titanium P076 but for no particular reason I haven’t used it for a while).

Nevertheless, I can say that the blade feel of the Ti 083 does seem to match the P076 and the new razor preserves that wonderful face-feel. It is not harsher than the P076. What I am unsure of is how much more efficient the Ti 083 is. During the shave it did not seem noticeably more efficient, and I felt that I needed to buff in my more stubborn areas just as much as the P076, and more than my most efficient razors like the Sailor, Tradere OC, Blackbird or Timeless Slim. But then 15 hours after the shave my skin was still extremely smooth, which is longer than I ever got from the P076 without loosening the handle a bit. So it might be more efficient and closer. My skin feels really great too. There are so many variables in shaving, though, that I can’t really form a firm opinion yet.

It is certainly a wonderful razor, for me. I really do love the face-feel and the nimbleness of the P076 and Ti 083. I really think these are special razors and they offer me a level of pleasure in shaving that exceeds other razors. I’m just not sure yet how much of a step in efficiency the Ti 083 gives - it might be a moderate but useful step up, with the right technique for a very light razor, but I don’t know yet if it is as efficient as I would ideally wish for.

Moriarty  It sounds like you'll get along with the 083 good. What blade did you use?
It's a nimble little razor, for sure.

I used a Kai blade. It’s my usual choice.

I’ve had three shaves with the Ti 083 now and I think my conclusions are clear. All three shaves were exceptionally comfortable and left my skin feeling remarkably good. The shaves were all close enough to last between 12-15 hours with complete smoothness when I pressed on my skin. The razor does not feel any more aggressive than the P076, but all three of my shaves lasted longer than the P076 ever gave me, so the Ti 083 is more efficient, and enough to make a difference. I have to buff slightly more than with certain very efficient razors, but not too much, and certainly not so much that I distress my skin. I would like another step up in efficiency but, as the P076 was already one of my top three razors because it has good enough efficiency but also feels so joyous to use, I cannot complain about the Ti 083 - it preserves everything good about the P076 and yields a closer shave.

However, something wasn’t feeling right for me. The Ti 083 wasn’t putting the same smile on my face as the P076 does. With the 80mm (3.5 inch) bell-tipped handle the Ti 083 is too light. It feels insubstantial compared to my P076 (also titanium) with the 95mm version of this handle. I like some titanium razors, but I find that if the razor is below a certain weight then it starts to feel a bit like silver-painted plastic in the hand, and the vibrations can overwhelm the shaving feel. The Carbon Cx Ti is like this. For my third shave I swapped the 95mm (3.75 inch) titanium handle from my P076 and, as expected, it fixed everything - giving me a light, nimble, precise tool with great feel and controlled vibrations. Very, very nice.

So, this is an exceptionally good razor - giving A- level efficiency with pleasant, light blade feel and no harshness or aggressiveness. The feel of the razor is so enjoyable that it may be more satisfying for you overall than higher-efficiency razors, even if you are an efficiency freak (an “efficionado”?). You should be able to get as close and long-lasting a shave with this as you can with anything. But get the longer handle, even though it is not as attractive. Or wait for a steel or copper version of the razor, which will be perfect with the shorter 80mm handle.

Over time, I’m starting to feel like titanium isn’t great in general as a material for razors. For some bulkier razors like the Timeless Slim 0.5 I still prefer titanium, but mostly I am finding that steel, brass and copper are better options for me.

Nice thorough write up. With the longer all- knurled handle, is the audio feedback the same as the 076 Ti or perhaps louder on the 083 Ti? Thanks in advance.

I think the audio feedback is the same. The P076 and Ti 083 are really the same razor with different gaps, as far as I can tell.
