I plan on using this again next week to see how it does as a follow up and if my thoughts remain the same.

one thing I'll note.  I'm pretty sure when I originally got this razor from Aji, it had a polishing cloth & 6-8 extra washers in the case with the razor.  both the polishing cloth & all of the extra washers are missing.  what happened with them?

I don't recall seeing extra washers or a cloth with this razor.   The other passaround for the 1.30 SB gap had those items.

Haircut and Shave Co .83 titanium review

Razor: Haircut & Shave Co .83 Ti
Brush: Wald J3
Soap: Cutting Edge Citrus Wood
Aftershave: Proraso Green
Blade: Nacet
Hair Tonic: Lavish Care Menthol & Camphor

Had my first shave with this beauty today on 2 days worth of growth. It’s been said a million times, Aji’s razors are a Spectacle to behold. Beautiful fit and finish. I’ve previously tried the N075 as well as all of the P076’s except the SS one. To give some context to my review, I prefer razors with positive blade exposure. It stops me from over-buffing and helps me maintain consistent blade contact with the skin. I have pretty course hair which grows in many directions and it can be challenging to get BBS shaves.

The N075 was a superb mild razor, but found myself confidently buffing a lot which resulted in irritation at the end of the shaves. Blade feel was Almost non-existent with it being neutral but was still present a bit with the proper angle.

All of the P076s I tried gave me some great BBS shaves but always resulted in some kind of discomfort. I just didn’t gel with any of them. I really want to find which H&S co razor works for me though because I would like to add one of his razors to my den.

On to the P083. Firstly, this handle is my favorite of H&S co’s offerings to date. Great knurling. A bit long for my preference but with it being Ti not much of an issue. I paired it with a Nacet blade since that’s what has always been recommended to me for his razors. With the grain was a great pass and same with across the grain. Against the grain pass was good with just a bit of irritation in my trouble spots. End result was a great BBS shave.

To me, this razor has a bit more blade feel than the carbon .68, a little less than a CG gen 1 lvl 3. Very similar feel to a Wolfman WR1 .80 but smoother in my opinion. Lately I’ve been steering clear of Ti razors. I’ve gotten the art of light touch down and SS/other metals weight helps mow down my coarse hair better in my opinion.

Overall, from one shave I’d say this is a great razor. Not sure if Aji is making them but if it were up to me, I’d replace the P076 lineup with this gap. It seems to work better for MY face. Now I’m curious about the efficient and 1.30 razors. Going to get a few more shaves in and will keep reporting. Will be interesting to see how it goes with a daily shave next.

On a side note, if your a menthol lover than you need to get this hair tonic. Gives the head a great cooling feel and is kind of like a styling spray but doesn’t leave the hair greasy or tacky at all.

Thanks to Aji and Andrew for letting me be a part of this passaround!

Good thoughts there Whisker_whacker .  I think that sort of lining up with my experiences from these razors.
I really like the efficiency we'll have to watch the trouble area for irritation as well.
   I hope you're on the ,1.30
Passing around list.

The Razorburn Strikes Back

Razor: Haircut & Shave co P083
Brush: Paladin 28mm Neptune Chief
Soap/AS: ETHOS Rendezvous
Pre: Grooming Dept pre shave

Today was the first daily shave with the Ti .83. I went with two passes, one WTG and one ATG. Normally this is where great razors stand out for me from this mid-high gap/exposure/efficiency category. I pulled out all the hitters for todays shave. Grooming dept pre-shave used for both passes. ETHOS soap and AS. Big ole 28mm Paladin Chief.

My WTG pass was going great. Todays shave felt more like a carbon .68 shave. The carbon has more feedback though but that’s not to say the H&S has none. Just a bit less sound when scraping the whiskers off. I started thinking about the Tatara Nodachi. For daily shaves the Tatara is a level up from this .83 and was a bit much for me which leads me to think the 1.3 razor is going to be a no go for me. Efficiency after the first pass was on par with the carbon. Previously I had said it felt like a WR1 .80 but I think the .80 is a step up from this razor in terms of blade feel and efficiency. The H&S being the smoother though. An enjoyable pass for sure.

My ATG pass is where I started getting into trouble around my neuck/problem areas. Again, this could just be due to the light weight of Ti since I have gotten rid of all my other Ti razors. Not really any tugging or uncomfortable  feels while shaving, but after this pass and applying aftershave it STUNG! It reminded me of the shaves I had with the PO76. Overall so far I still enjoy the .83 more than the PO76, but it still seems to magically give me an after shave irritation effect on my neck. Close to BBS shave but not quite there. I fly for the next few days taking my daughter home from our summer vacation together so I’m going to get another shave with a few days growth once I get back and then try one more daily shave with a different blade before sending it on its way.

I have a very similar experience with the NO75, PO76 and PO83, first pass is good but second pass tears me up and gives me razor burn and bumps pretty bad. The 1.30 was better for some reason and shaved more comfortably. The "efficient" model was awesome and shaved nothing like any of the prior H&S models.

I really want the efficient but not in Ti and that’s his only offering for it so far.

Bummer, hopefully he releases it in SS eventually!

Razor: Haircut & Shave co P083
Handle: Weber Wave
Brush: Paladin Neptune Sumo / Muhle 25mm STF knot
Soap: GD Omnia
AS: ETHOS unscented
Pre: Grooming Dept pre shave

Today was my third shave with this razor on 3 days worth of growth. I swapped the Nacet blade for an Astra green as well as the Ti handle with a SS Weber wave handle. The added weight of the handle was nice, it helped give the razor some weight for the mowing. My WTG pass was very smooth with no irritation. After the pass feeling my face I can confidently say that this razor is not going to be a 1 pass razor for most folks. XTG and ATG were equally as enjoyable. End result = a good BBS. Still a tiny irritation on the neck but not much. The increased weight of the handle was quite enjoyable and Im fairly certain that if I were going to go for this razor, I’d want it in a heavier metal than Ti. But that’s just me. Going to give er one final daily shave tomorrow to see if the Astra was a huge change or not.
