Haircut & Shave Ti 083 DFS passaround

I just finished using the Ti .83 after 36 hours from using my Wolfman Bronze .94 DC. I am usually a daily shaver but the Wolfman extends it about 12 hours. My impressions:
Fit & Finish. This is a beautifully built razor with a finish equal to the best Ti finished razors I own, my only complaint is the Top Cap corners are very sharp, reminding me of my original Blackland Blackbird.
The finish looks excellent considering it has been thru a pass around.
Shave: I used ETHOS Blood Orange set which has fantastic scent, cushion and slickness. The blade was a PolSilver.
1st Pass WTG. With an adjustment of the angle ( 40 degrees for me ) the blade feel was there but minimal and I was able to achieve a DFS shave simply.
2nd Pass ATG.  Slightly more blade feel, but still very smooth and I was BBS on my cheeks but definitely needed a 3rd pass under the nose, chin and under the jaw line.
3rd Pass ATG. Again very smooth but still knew the blade was there and I easily obtained a BBS shave everywhere.
For me there is a definite step up in efficiency compared to my Ti PO76, and with adjustment of the angle of the shave only a minimal increase in blade feel.  I can get a BBS shave in 3 passes from either razor, and both are remarkably smooth so for me I see no reason to add it to my collection as the PO76 is very close, but if I was to get my first one I would go with the .83 if I didn’t own the 76.
My only complaint on what I find to be a fantastic razor is the sharp corners on the Top Cap.
I have washed the razor in Dawn and will ship it to ewk tomorrow

Good to know. I will pass on this one as I have a copper and a titanium P076 DC. Talked to Aji and he is working on a Slant next and I will definitely jump on that one. Hope he does an SE and then an adjustable because his razors are right up there with the best of them.

A quick update to my review. The Ti .83 has given me a longer lasting BBS compared to my PO76 so I am hooked and going to order one. I am very impressed with how H&S has worked to improve each new razor Aji creates.

Curious why you changed your opinion.  I seem to be in a similar place to you.  I think the P076 Titanium provides the best shave from my arsenal of top flight razors, but I am open to the bar being raised.  How much of an improvement is the 83 over the 76?  Please give your answer to the nearest hundredth of a percent.  Thanks.

No change in opinion about the shave but the .83 gave me about 5 more hours of BBS face feel compared to my PO76. Both are very smooth to me and both required a 3 pass shave the .83 just lasted longer.

given the number of factors that affect growth of facial hair, I am always surprised this metric is used at all.

Shavemd, I appreciate your response. Based on your comment, I lean towards watchful waiting. I'll see if my affliction develops and then I will make a "razor affirmation purchase" if necessary.

First Impressions of the H&S Ti 083

I was not expecting such fast delivery, but look what arrived in today's mail. The razor arrived in perfect condition.

This is my first experience with a titanium razor. The weight is absolutely perfect. The elegant curve of the head bears the H&S family resemblance. 

As a shaver,  I found it balanced perfectly to guide me to the perfect cutting angle. The efficiency was very high without aggression or bite. Both face shave and head shave required only two passes. Performance was similar to the SS P076, but the light weight puts this razor in another class.

The singular design flaw in the Blackbird is its inadequate blade vice, but I don't shave against the grain, so it never bites me.  By comparison the Mühle R41 has almost no blade vice, and a nearly flat blade, is very quick to bite.  Whereas all the H&S Co razors have very tight blade vices and don't torque the blade.  So it all comes down to YMMV.

What exactly is inadequate about how the Blackbird clamps the blade? The Blackbird in general clamps the blade better than 99% of the razors on the market today. Have you contacted Shane about your razor? Though I've only had my Ti Blackbird for just under a year now I've never noticed anything inadequate about how it clamps the blade. Mine is clamped evenly and very tight as far as I can tell...

I'm pretty sure I've had a blackbird crack a DE blade in half before because of how tightly it clamps the blade...that or just the repetitiveness of loosening and then tightening the handle between shaves might of caused it.
