Actually, a mirror polished Wolfman is $750 cad....$780 with a hollow handle.

Not that far back, we were outraged in a general consensus that razors over $100 were ludicrous and only fools would entertain such an acquisition/expenditure. I'd even like to remind some here that James at Wolfman was offering his razor much lower 2 years ago than the current rate and many agreed that his razors were undervalued at the time. He increased the price substantially and yet, no one blinks an eye and still he has a wait list in the hundreds every year since said change.

Bottom line is that the market will pay what the market will bare. I honestly believe that in the coming months, prices will go up out of sheer necessity to balance supply & demand. That Ti razor now potentially priced at $400 (not written in stone) can quite possibly be $500+ in the near future. Another thing is, they've also been selling out quite fast. With today's financial outlook and in the future,  that $400 might seem to look like a bargain.
As a one man show, isn't part of wolfman's pricing aimed at reducing the amount of product he needs to turn out annually to make a certain income?

One would presume that part of the Wolfman market strategy (be it formally planned or serendipitously). However, bear in mind, one doesn’t buy a craftsman’s hourly labour but rather the many years learning his trade to perfection.  Further, James’ equipment cost is already absorbed in his core machining business.

Under no circumstances is anything in my statements critical of Wolfman as am a proud and happy multi product owner (and would buy again if a new razor or brush handle design to my preference released).

Back to H&S, Aji does the polishing; yes, Aji. It takes him many hours per razor.

Whilst would never slam entrepreneurs for their business model unless found unethical (One Blade)...those mentioning competitive razors need look, even glance at some of machining and polishing work. Even in internally developed promotional photos, wavy edges, unchamphered/undeburred edges and swirl filled polishing is obvious. That is fine at a price point but it unfair to compare to others doing things to a world class standard, declaring them worthy of same market value. One would never point to a cheaply tarted up prostitute and compare her to a lady in elegant evening makeup - at least one would hope....

Perhaps but, I wasn't questioning his business motif or on how Wolfman perceives to control his costs versus profit, availability and demand. As DanLaw above put it, it's about as good as it can be said...

Yes, I forgot to add the cost of polish for the handle. Yes you are right, the correct cost for a full mirror polish razor is 780 canadian dollars, with a hollow handle.

Dan,

I didnt get the sense you were running down wolfman, but rather reflection on the quality and price of the H&S in relation to the Wolfman.  Nothing wrong with that since most of us by now either have or have had a Wolfman.   In my mind when you move to the  higher level razors (vs say a Merkur or muhle), you need to compare apples to apples.  For the higher levels razors Wolfman quality and price (as is Paradigm) are a fair benchmark for quality vs. price.  It appears from your comment that H&S has hit that mark and therefore worth taking a look.  For this I am grateful and I would ask that you keep us informed.

Somewhere back in the day, someone bought a Wolfman (or a BBS-1) and said "Hey all, you might want to give this razor a go..."  The rest is history....

Its a fair comparison/argument but with different constraints, perhaps another strategy would be better for H&S' bottom line. A related question is whether or not Aji feels his product is accessible at a higher price? One might not know it based on this forum, but it's a small subset willing to spend that much on a razor.

New here but back read everything on the H&S pass-arounds. Thanks for all of the very detailed writing. I’m almost sold on purchasing one of these fine razors, maybe I missed it but is it known when the Ti will become available? Thanks again all.
