I currently own 4 Wolfman razors and have owned five others. Hell, I love Wolfman razors. This particular razor finish presented as if it had been taken off a CNC machine then dipped in zinc and sent out. That is just a fact. Am not commenting on any other recent duFour razors as have seen some of them in person - while basic finishes present marks under the cap and such, nothing prepared me for this razor. Again it was perfectly machined and shaved outstanding but the finish was akin to a low end Rockwell (not even their top end).  Were it my razor, it would have had a call tag to be sent back. It was shocking

But have you owned a Rockwell? Tongue

I have seen enough basic finished photos and own a basic brushed wolfman. They are not comparable to Rockwell.

It sounds as though your razor has some flaw that was not caught? That’s suspicious considering the way wolfman works. You should be in touch with Tara, rather than using an outlier to slag one maker and market another’s product.

I know you’ll possibly see this as an attack (it is not meant to be), but everything I’ve stated above is rooted in the posts I’ve read in this thread. I’m just trying to point out the pieces that don’t make sense.

You make a huge and erroneous presumption that I am out to hurt Wolfman or James. Hell am one of his biggest fans. Until recently, his DE were all I retained and will never sell them unless bottom falls out financially. I personally loan people my Wolfman customs to help them make purchasing decisions re style and gaps, encouraging them the wait and expense worth it.

Further, you suggest am marketing another brand which am not. Have neither financial nor personal interest in anything shaving nor anything ever reviewed re shaving. Moreover, if having read my reviews over years, one would find exceedingly kind to artisans as they small businessmen self funding projects. It is a tenet for participating in our passarounds that snarky hurtful comments are not permitted.

It wasn’t my razor. If it were, it would have been sent back immediately. And yes, have seen basic finish Wolfman razors that were acceptable, not what I would order as the high grade finishes are what accustomed to on his razors in my rotation. But this particular razor was so bad, nobody seeing it would agree acceptable. Many seem to be implying am suggesting all basic Wolfman finishes are this bad. Rather am stating this particular finish was this bad - no amount of cajoling will induce me to lie about this fact to appease people, especially those not familiar with the situation

DanLaw thank you for the clarifications. You’ve filled in the missing pieces to help me better understand the situation.

Edit: I still stand by the fact that an outlier should not be used in argument. While I don’t think Aji would ever let a less than perfect specimen leave his shop, it certainly would not be fair to use it as judgement against his masterful craftsmanship.

Actually I honestly disagree with you.

As example, there was a redesign of a camberplate by a vendor that rendered an OEM strutbrace obstructing one of the adjustors.  Even though it simply required mocking of a template to remove a small section of metal and It was unbeknownst to me; nonetheless lost 2 nights sleep obsessing over the miss prior to shipping to customers.  In the end, the manufacturer had eliminated caster adjustment, permanently setting at maximum and thus obstructing the rear most of the camber adjustors.

My point is, when paying $50 for a razor, foibles are acceptable but once over a couple hundred they not. Likewise, when customer paying for cheap Chinese made suspensions or a typical performance retailer, it one thing to have foibles but people pay a premium for me because they expect perfection and 24/7/365 support.  I failed: was and still am sick about it.

That is my perspective on life. Others are free to entertain their belief

For my second shave I used a Nacet blade and a Sē'bŭm soap + serum. All I can say this shave was impeccable. I did my usual 3 passes with a total BBS result. I only did a few touch-ups which is normal for my standards. No harshness at all and smooth. Very smooth!. The razor is very efficient with a healthy medium aggressive approach. Blade feel and feedback are present. I only used the SB side of the razor.

I changed 2 variables compared to my first shave. Blade and soap. I did feel a lack of protection and overall performance with my previous use of the shaving creme. That's one of the reasons I like to stick with what works for me. For my next and third shave I will use Sē'bŭm again but go back to the Voskhod blade. That should point me to the culprit of my first shave.

To finalize my second shave with the H&S PO76 17-4 DC. It was one for the books. Smooth, efficient, BBS and nothing to complain about. Just perfect and a pleasure to use.

14hrs of being close shaven. I'm finally starting to feel some stubble growth. That was an awesome close shave last night.

What can I say. This was another stellar shave. I only shaved with the SB side as I'm not a big fan of OC. Again, extremely smooth and efficient. I used a Voskhod (2) with Sē'bŭm soap+ serum. The usual 3 passes + touch-ups = BBS.

Let's be honest here, for me the star of this pass around is the H&S P076 17-4 DC. It has a solid build, fit and finish are top tier and the shave delivers. I love the weight, balance and handle. I never felt anything harsh on my skin either and I have very sensitive skin. A stellar performer. That's all one can ask for.

I know what you mean, I've got the 17-4 SB but now I'm very curious how the OC shaves. I'd like a tad bit more efficiency than the SB, shoot.
Yes it is a good review.
