I think it was Gravity who asked over on the deleted thread about the difference between the serum and a balm. andrewjs18 just asked me the same thing on FB Smile

A balm usually is an occlusive product with humectants, and emollients ingredients thrown in. The occlusive part is created by using butters and/or various waxes. Occlusive ingrediens increase moisture levels in skin by providing a physical barrier to epidermal water loss. Ingredients with occlusive properties include petrolatum, waxes, some oils, butters and silicones. A balm is sealant of sorts!

The Rejuvenating serum is made of natural oils which are composed of fatty aides. Some fatty acids are produced by the body and some are not, but the body can make use of the nonessential fatty acids to maintain skin integrity. Essential fatty acids are the building blocks of cell membranes. Here is why the serums/fatty acids are good for skin post shaving:

Anti-inflammatory
Skin identical
Supportive of skins healing process
Moisturising
Promote regeneration of healthy skin cells – anti-ageing

Later in the year Grooming Dept will release two balms. A light version with consistency similar to Niviea, the heavier version has a salve-like texture.

Now that the 'New Release and Re-stock thread' is locked for public response, perhaps you could consider providing "advance" notices when possible and if a tentative release date is changed, then you could update us  accordingly by simply updating the same thread.  Just a suggestion Mohammad, Grooming Dept's enthusiasts like myself will get products of their choice one way or another.

Hi Hooman The most advance notice I'll give is 48 hours. At least for a while. I want to only announce a shipping date when I can absolutely commit to it.

Mo, can you please PM or email me and let me know when you’ll ship my order? Tracking still hasn’t updated to show acceptance by USPS

I emailed you directly yesterday but have not received a reply. Invoice PP3946

Thanks

Few updates:

The last of the unscented soap orders and serum orders will ship today.

Citric, Jasmine & Civet and Rejuvenating serum will be restocked on Monday 11:00AM-PST

Sunday preshave restock is rescheduled to Thursday Jan 24, 11:00AM-PST (lids are on a cross journey till Wednesday)

I'll start a New Release and restock thread. This time it will be locked, I'm the only one who can post to it, but anyone can subscribe to receive thread updates.

What a Giant step in the right direction Mohammad!  A locked thread we can all subscribe to!  And as evidenced by your post, advance notice too, at least sometimes.  You seem to be listening intently to all your customers - from the most to the least satisfied - and doing all you can to make things better.  That has got to be good for everyone.

Another great shave today, and again with a different razor (details here).  No blood or irritation, and very nearly a BBS.  More importantly, my skin is in much better shape than it was seven shaves ago, when I began using the preshave with Mandarin Bay exclusively, and also better than four shaves ago, when I started using the Rejuvenating Serum.

Can anyone help me with what tao actually smells like? Is it a citrus scent?

It is pretty unique to my nose and I am "no bueno" at breaking down and describing a scent. That said, it has become one of my favorites. I believe I get the Rhubarb and Blackcurrant the most. I would not really consider it a "citrus" to my nose but what do I know...

No citrus for me. Maybe more like stone fruit.

I get Rhubarb and Black Currant with Grapefruit mostly. I wouldn't make out the other scent ingredients.

So it's still a fruity smell then. Love me some rhubarb, my mom always had it growing in the garden when I was young and couldn't get enough.
