Hi George,

I love the duck fat base (Pekin - the unscented version of that base) so much that I have done three straight shaves in the past week alone without going to the vegan and tallow base GD soaps. I've always used soaps in rotation. I agree, there is something special about this Mallard base.

As for the Mandarin Bay, I'm sure that one will be a spectacular performer given that it will have donkey milk in it as well. It will be gone within seconds after release on Friday. I'm getting Chypre Vert from a friend of mine on another forum. I'm still debating on Mandarin Bay! Happy shaves!

Can’t believe 2 of the best scents are still available on the site. wonderland and naranja.

I need to get the unscented duck fat soap. I keep putting that off when it’s available but won’t the next time.

Nothing better than Mallard for winter usage in my experience. Find it bit heavy for hot deep south summers though. As have been reminded to include, the newer formulae are somewhat better than the original (and really think the scents better if it matters) but original is still the most hydrating base I have ever used vis-à-vis other brands.

Original lime was outstanding scentwise and filled a room (as were all the original simple scents such Kolnisch, Lavander&c) but not as hydrating nor cushioned as Mallard bases and yes have tried the new updated vegan bases which are quite good (and an improvement over the original) but still the least favourite of the GD line even if would take them in a heart beat over any other mfr's base save WK DM Tallow.

How’s the scent on Wonderland?

I saw one review that said it just smelled like Hay

Wonderland is my favorite beef tallow soap. I’m not good at describing scent profiles but it smells amazing!!

To my nose it's a milky scent. It sort of resembles to a dessert, I just can't quite put my finger on it. Very interesting scent, hard to describe it though...

There is a hay note but it’s subtle and to say it smells like hay is selling it short imo. As someone that grew up working in a barn and riding horses, this one is super comforting. The leather, the wood, the animalic note along with the hay paints a picture for me of growing up. I tell you what if you buy it and don’t like it, I’ll buy it off you lol.
