this happened a few weeks ago. I forgot I took some photos of my skin..

I rubbed my razorock alum stick on my neck after a shave and forgot to wipe it off (probably left on my skin for about 10min or so) because I got side tracked and started doing something else...these are the results...

before anyone asks... yes, I only do 1 pass on my lower neck because my neck facial hair is a real PITA to shave super close without any irritation...

Ouch! I thought alum was supposed to calm the irritation not cause it. I guess you won't be doing that again soon.

Aloe aloe aloe. Hope you feel better. That is one tender neck!

Andrew, I cannot believe how sensitive your skin is.

I won't be using it on my neck anymore, that's for sure!

I'm fine now..I think it went away a few hours after I used it. I shave at night before going to bed so it's usually not an issue when I wake up.

I have the worst type of facial hair and skin to shave on it seems. my hair is super coarse and gets curly when it's long enough, it lays VERY flat against the skin and my neck hair grows in like 4 different directions.

I'd say you shave south to north on the neck? If no consequence add east to west or west to east.

I don't wish additional unpleasantry over pronunciation; but is it ALOOM as in british aloominyum or ALUM as in alumni? I've experienced local rashes and am slowly simplifying my post shave routine to the medical dictum " dilution negates pollution" aka cold water. Lots, and lots of cold water.

Unrefined shea butter.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but it helps with all kinds of skin irritation. I've shared it with family and friends. Some are sceptical, but once it starts working, they even stop complaining about the natural, nutty scent.

I hope that irritation didn't last long, Andrew! You may have some seriously sensitive skin!
