Found a new Frankenrazor that immediately moved to the top of the list of my favorites - PAA Prismatic cap and handle with a Charcoal Goods Lvl1 OC. Tonight's shave was a two pass no touch up BBS.

That's gold Jerry!

Gonna try the extra shiny Prismatic cap on my rhodium LC plate with two shims. All that cap span looks like a good time but at least one shim will help with rigidity.

Just had to do an evening shave..two shims, LC plate, Matador handle (not a fan of the Prismatic handle). Woo hoo kinda sums it up. [Image: 9c4c4fea479a14a7b2024cf1629b1e78.jpg]

New Short Comb-Prismatic (Rocnel Bohin handle)/Kai (2). I'm just giddy how well this performs.

Because the Prismatic cap supports the blade close to its edge only at the ends I used one shim to increase rigidity. Probably not necessary in most situations but as aggressive shavers go this configuration can hardly be beat. Fortunately I have multiple Short comb plates so this can remain at the ready. FrankenRazor Ghost Trotter
(Spectre CC / Yaqi Globe Trotter)

Super light, super efficient.
Head is a little aggressive, and very light.
Balanced just few grams on the resin handle.
Total 30g, 13 / 17.

Love the color contrast.
Looks like something as vintage.

Even though I don't consider a handle swap a true Frankenrazor, this time around I yielded. I finally broke down and got a Gillette Heritage this Christmas, ditched the head and paired the handle with my Carbon 316L +++ head, which seriously reminds me of a cross between a triangle slot and flat bottom Tech. I never liked the Carbon handle, even though the newer handle is a lot better than the original poodle handle, and so this Frankenrazor was created:

What do you consider a true one?
How do you call a razor made with different parts?
I love to understand others POV.

In reply to the question about using a more curved top cap with the Yaqi Knight Helmet, I did it yesterday morning.

I searched my current razors to find a top cap that had the “bullets” (so it would work with the Knight Helmet baseplate) but also had more curvature.  The first one I found was the top cap to my iKon Shavecraft 101.  I loaded it up the night before and took a look at it.  Less blade reveal, slightly less blade exposure, definitely more curvature.  Still a huge blade gap.

Anyway, so I fired it up yesterday morning.  It tamed the Knight Helmet a little bit, for sure.  There was still quite a bit of blade feel, but more like a Blackland Blackbird than a DE shavette.  It was still very aggressive and efficient, but it didn’t feel like it was about to peel the skin off my face at all times, like the Knight Helmet does by itself.

Overall, it made for a pretty nice razor, if you like aggressive/efficient razors.  I never tried the Stirling razors in the pass around, but from reading the reviews, it feels like the Knight Helmet is like the ultra-aggressive Stirling razor but with the iKon 101 cap, it’s more like the slightly less aggressive one, which seemed to be favored by most reviewers.

I am going to see if I have any other caps that might fit.  I took a look at the Fatip Gentile cap, but I don’t think it offers anything over the iKon 101.  Somewhere I have a sterling silver Gillette New Improved Tuckaway that has a “bullet” cap.  I will try to find it, see if it is any different from the iKon 101.  If it is, I will fire it up for a shave with the Knight Helmet base plate.
Love, peace, and harmony....maybe in the next world.....
