Floris No. 89 Bath Soap - Not for Shaving

Well, just out of curiosity I tried shaving with a bar of Floris No. 89 bath soap, which is tallow based also. I had tried this with Acqua di Parma bath soap but found that it did not lather well. The Floris soap actually lathered quite well, but the lather was nowhere near as thick and cushioning or as slick as that of the vintage shaving soap and it left my skin quite dry. Its fragrance was pretty weak. I can't recommend use of the bath soap for shaving even as a "poor man's" No. 89.
