Did you search before asking?

I did not, didn't really think of it. But I'm used to seeing 3 CRSW and 3 MW threads active at the same time (elsewhere). Wink

You are fine. You can ask whatever you want w/o moderator-wannabes bugging you.

I have been impressed with the Fine Accoutrements Soap I have (American blend). It produces a very nice lather and performs beautifully. When they first came out, and all the vendor talked about was that it was the same formula as Tabac I used the two on alternating days for a solid week or two to compare. In my estimation Tabac is still the better performer but Fine has similar attributes and can hold it's own. I wish the vendor hadn't been so adamant at touting it's sameness to Tabac and instead just let the soap speak for itself, because it is a very nice soap in it's own right.

I agree, Nathan, that Fine is a very good performer, but OTOH I actually even think it outperforms Tabac, at least the Tabac that I got from the big sale from Perfumania a few months back. (However, I honestly think Tabac used to be better than that more current batch from Perfumania... and now I think I remember that Tabac switched formulas in the last year or two (after I sold my previous Tabac) or maybe the batch I recently got was just one of their poorer batches.)

I actually get a better looking and performing lather from the Fine than that recent Tabac, and the post-shave doesn't make my skin itch like Tabac.

But I agree, again, that Fine is a soap fully capable of standing on its own legs without needing to explicitly draw comparison to Tabac (and, considering my personal recent experience and IMO, Fine does itself a disservice by such claim.)

Interesting Matt, I had no idea Tabac had been reformulated. Mine is at least 4 years old. I used to use it all the time but the scent got old to me and I haven't used it since my side by side comparison of the two. I think I'll use my Fine American Blend soap tomorrow morning though, it's been awhile since I've used it.

I think it was modified slightly when they came out with the new logo and packaging. Whether or not that's true (I'm personally not 100% sure since I didn't have both types of soaps/logos/packaging at the same time, so I can't confirm), the lather I got from the Perfumania buy was much thinner than I remember (wasn't thick by most standards) and 101% DEFINITELY the scent had changed (for the better, IMO... less of the nose-stinging aldehydes, which allows the other notes to do their jobs in a prettier fashion).
There is a thread about this on another forum (early 2016) but it didn't get too deep, however ask4edge (member) mentions a different order of ingredients while others claim there was no change (without providing evidence).

Actually I have two of these soaps...have not had a chance to take them out and use them due to back log of unnecessarily hoarded soaps !!
