Face off: Baum.be vs Stirling Sharp Dressed Man

I started learning to use a straight razor at Christmas. My face was feeling rough after shaves, so I purchased some of the more expensive shaving soaps to help as my skill progresses

This brought up the question: expensive vs mid priced quality soaps.

The face off: half of my face with Baum.be and half with Stirling.

Scent results: Both have a good scent, though Green Irish Tweed is my favorite scent. Thus, the nod goes to Stirling's version of Green Irish Tweed.

Performance results:

Baum.be does provide better cushion and glide, though not by that much. Both performed well. Baum.be will be preferred for straight razor shaving until my skill increases. I wouldn't have a preference when using a safety razor as I have good skill there and am glad to say the Stirling will remain in the rotation.

Thanks for the review. I tried Stirling long ago and tried so many other artisans since then. I came back to Stirling not too long ago and realized that Stirling was not only good but better than most. The 3 points on the top of my list are 1) does it burn, 2) is the lather thick and slick, 3) does it smell nice. My face is apparently sensitive and as such a lot of soaps fail #1. I've tried many scents from Stirling and all passed #1 (and 2 and 3). So many scents to chose from, I'm thinking Electric Sheep next (after i use my sample a bit more).

Of these 2 which would you say had the better post shave feel?

I have more products from Stirling than any other brand. I haven't tried baum.be yet but may eventually. It seems most are happy with the cream but I'm more interested in the soap.

I would say the Baum.be, though not by that much.
