Ok got a question. So aside from being in moving Hell right now. I was looking at my Bay Rum Infusions and they both seem to be about ready to go once I start back up in the new location As I’ve mentioned their are two different Bay Rum Infusions. One is the more Traditional ( my version) and the other is what a call a Tropical Bay Rum. With that said there is no doubt that your smelling a Bay Rum with either version so here is my question.

So you think I can make only 1 Bay Rum Shave soap which would be more the Traditional and then have the two different Bay Rum Aftershaves/ Skin Food Splashes, or do you think it’s a must that I make two separate shave soaps?

Just curious to hear peoples thoughts on this one.

Thank you!

You don't have to make two soaps.  Here's a crazy idea:  You don't have to make any soaps.  Do a splash only LE and let the splash feedback tell you what to do.  Like I said, it's crazy.  So are a lot of Bay Rum lovers (no offense intended).

I think I personally was looking more forward to your tropical version as I have a couple of other standard bay rum soaps/and splashes. I wonder if its not worth seeing if one sells out or is more liked than another and making that one your official bay rum version, and keeping the other for custom orders.

Seems like there's enough straight bay rum soaps. I got excited when I saw your suggestion for a tropical scented bay rum. Personally, I don't care for the usual bay rum stuff. Something creative with a tropical vibe, now we're talking.

Does "tropical" mean lime, pineapple, coconut or something else?

The majority of "tropical" soaps I have tried (approximately 10), have been way too coconut forward.  For me, the coconut dominates and ruins the intent of the "tropical" products.
I have many "tropical" fragrances, which have zero coconut, and are wonderful.

My favorite Bay Rum has lime added.

Frank, I'd like to help and respond, but it would help to know what the notes are and more importantly which of those notes dominate.

As far as the Tropical notes go like I mentioned the Bay Rum is still dominating the blend. There is some real Coconut CO2 extract in there along with both real Pineapple skins that were infused into the blend and a Pineapple organic Tincture, Tangerine EO, LimeEO, Grapefruit EO, Sweet Orange, EO , a Mango seed with some flesh on it was also infused, real Orange fruit and lastly a Banana skin. All the real fruits were only in the blend for about 3 weeks with the exception of the Lime and Orange and Pineapple skins and I just took that out as I wanted the Bay Rum to still be the main player in the blend. Oh and I added a little real Hawaiian Sandalwood as it’s got a somewhat spicy note to it which makes it unique when compared to all the other Sandalwoods in my library.

All the normal Bay Rum ingredients were in there like Nutmeg, Allspice, Ginger, Mixed Peppercorns with less Cinnamon and Clove than what’s in the more traditional one. BTW I used a mixture of Black Rum and Pineapple Rum as my alcohol ingredients.

Hopefully that explains the blend.

The tropical blend sounds wonderful.  My personal opinion is that should be your signature Bay Rum and it should be the one you stock and you should offer the standard version in your custom orders and allow people to customize it further as they wish.  Like Captainjonny mentioned as long as the coconut isn't going to overpower the citrus and other scents it sounds like the tropical version is going to be a stunner.

Obviously that's just my thoughts and its likely most others probably think the exact opposite as me.
