Gallery grade burl woods, fine imported resins, snake skin and vintage Bakelite. These are only a few of the materials from around the world I use to make my razor and brush handles.

My razor handles are designed to be available as 3-piece handles only or fitted with a Merkur, Edwin Jagger or Muhle head. Additionally, these handles can also be installed on a Merkur 2-piece HD razor. Just let me know and I will set the handle to your preference. The brush handles can be fit with your choice of knot and loft.

I love what I do and as a result, I will typically have 40 – 50 brushes and over 100 handles that I have built and are in inventory and ready to go. I also do custom orders, so if I don’t have just what you want in inventory, please contact me via PM or my email at robert.d.quinn@eliterazor.com and I will be happy to work with you to build your special piece.

Below are several pieces I have completed to give you an idea of my work:

I'll throw in some pictures of the beauties Bob made me here as well.  The Manchurian White knots Bob is using are absolutely incredible.

I gotta believe that anyone here who likes Shavemac 2-bands, Thater 2-bands or any other 2-band type brush will be very impressed and perhaps even a bit stunned at how wonderful these knots are. Very luxurious and priced affordably. Additionally, Bob can make anything you dream up as far as handle shape. A true gentleman to work with.

Can similar things be done with brush handles, Bob?

I'm afraid the varying planes, as well as the exposed base of a brush handle, won't work well with applying either the skin or feathers. I've tried it and will just say that the results were "less than heroic".

I have just recently completed a number of new stone razor handles that are now listed on my site at www.eliterazor.com.  Shown below are just a few of the new additions.

Persian Turquoise - The best Turquoise available is Persian Turquoise, which is more blue than American Turquoise.  The turquoise beads of a bracelet found on the wrist of Egyptian Queen Zer within her tomb in the early 20th century were dated back to 5500 BC. Turquoise beads were hugely popular in Egyptian jewelry making.  Turquoise beaded pieces carved with Islamic and Persian proverbs have been discovered throughout the Mideast. The turquoise stone itself was sacred and revered, and is still the national gemstone of Iran today.

Malachite - Malachite is a very the famous and popular semi-precious stone.  It is named for the Greek word for “mallow”, a green herb. Its banded light and dark green designs are one-of-a-kind, and give it a unique ornamental quality unlike that of any other stone. The light and dark green bands are so distinctive that Malachite may be one of the most easily recognized minerals by the general public.

Larimar - Larimar is a distinctive gem that is found exclusively within a small inaccessible mountainous region of the Dominican Republic. It is a variety of Pectolite, an acid silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium, not a very uncommon mineral in all parts of the world. However, Larimar demands attention by gemologists because of its brilliant volcanic blue coloration.

The discovery of Larimar, also known as the Dolphin or Atlantis stone, is quite phenomenal. The blue coloration that is rarely found in gems, combined with its occurrence only in a small inaccessible island makes it rarer.  Today, Larimar is regarded as a treasure to possess and this is solely attributed to the wonderful brilliance of the stone and its effect on humans.

Can someone tell me how the backbone of the two band compares to the Envy White? The Envy had had too much for me so I sold it. I am buying one from Elite but trying to decide on the knot. I want softeness and moderate backbone while still spaying well. The option says 2 band silvertip or 3 band silvertip when I select a brush, but I think those are the same as the manchurian knots he offers right?

The knots referenced in my product listings are my standard knots (comparable to TGN knots). I only have a limited number of the Manchurian White (2-band) and High Mountain White (3-band) knots and they are listed within the Premium Knots category.

If you are interested in a handle with Premium knot, you can select the "Handle Only" option and then select the knot of your choice.

In regards to backbone, the 2-band knots will have more backbone than the 3-band and both will have very soft tips. As for the ability for the knot to splay, that can be accommodated by increasing the size of the socket that holds the knot, increasing the loft or both.
