So this soap got a reformulation and it's quite noticeable. The prior formulation was basically a croap, a very soft soap. That being said, as I have detailed here before, Dr. Jons makes an incredible soap. I have just about every soap they have ever produced. This Christmas I added defiance and Krampus to my collection..... and they are of the new formulation. The newest formulation is better than their first, and that says something because their soaps I believe, are some of the best in the business. The new formulation is a harder soap, but lathers wonderfully and to me, the scent strength is noticeably stronger. Comparing an old Krampus, to the new Krampus, it's clear the scent strength is much stronger. I always pair their after shave with their soap and I feel, their aftershave has some of the best staying power of any in my den.

I was leery when I learned last summer they were redoing their soap formulation because I loved what they were producing. I'm very relieved that one of, if not my favorite soap maker, has enhanced and improved what to me, was already an exceptional product.

This is good to hear, and I have read similar reports elsewhere. I have yet to try the new formula, but as a fan of the original version of the soap, it’s nice to learn that the new formula is even better.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I really like the new formula, too. Amazing lather and post shave feel.

I'm not a fan of croaps, glad Dr. John made a revision. Their V2 is definitely on my must try list.

I purchased the Black label last year not knowing that it was as soft as it was. I love the scent but almost never shave with it due to the consistency which gives me trouble when loading.

Try scooping some out and mashing it into a separate bowl and loading it that way. It seems to work better for me than loading from the tin.

I will try that. I've already moved it from the tin to an TOBS container I got from Maggard Razors because the tin was rusting and unsightly as well.

It's been a real shame because the soap performed great, and I really enjoyed the scent (it was also my wife's favorite.)

This new formulation is a hard soap comparable to just about every other soap out there. To me the best part is the scent strength is stellar and it lathers very well.... scent strength on the soap went up through the roof

I'm sure I will get the new puck at some point. I really don't have anything against the company, but with so many soaps, it's tough to go back just for a reformulation, you know?

Is there any soap in the new lineup with a scent that's less pungent/milder than the rest that doesn't hang around all day?
