Today I groundhog day'ed the Shoat Knot brush in hopes for better results. I soaked it halfway up the knot and then dried it vigorously on a towel. It was merely Damp, I'm almost certain. Still, I had to go back and reload to finish the shave. Now, I did use AoS Olibanum and Pepper cream. Since I don't use a lot of creams, it's possible I didn't load enough. I'm going to go with that for now, and move on to another brush for Thursday... Possibly an SOC. Been eyeing those two owners clubs. Would love to finally put them to the test. We'll see how I feel come Thursday evening.

All in all a good shave today. The Winning razor did an fair job, but I decided to pull out the Henson's to play cleanup and get that near BBS.

Time for bed, it's been a loooong day.

Added a velcro band to shorten the loft by about 10mm. I loved the result! I like the unbleached bristles but always thought the Pro Pro was too high lofted for my personal taste. This velcro strip is a game changer!!!

Can you post a picture of the strip in place? That is a very interesting fix, good show!

You bet, sir! I put the velcro strap on before I soak the brush. I then soak the brush & leave the strap on for lathering. I only remove the strap after I've shaved & ready to clean my brush. I leave the velcro off after cleaning so the brush dries properly. I'm considering setting some of my higher-lofted brushes deeper once I know what loft I like them at using the velcro strap. I cut one of the straps in half length-wise so I can try a 5-6mm reduction in loft as well as a 10-12mm reduction in loft.

Does anyone have knowledge if there is any reason or problem with setting boar knots 12mm deeper than their original factory-set loft? I'm thinking of setting some of my boars (Pro Pro & Zenith unbleached) in different handles so the loft is lower. I love the backbone of my Premium Jade & olive-handled Zenith unbleached. If I can replicate those lower lofts in other brushes, it would be a big win for me. Thoughts, gentlemen?
