What a pleasure to see you use the GD Mallard Coconut Rum!  I appreciate your gracious thank-you.  It looks like you are getting a nice protective layer of lather with it.  I enjoyed the video.

I wish I could say that we are RVing it this year but medical issues and related surgeries are curtailing that. Perhaps later this year or next year.

Scentsless Shaver

Hey Dave!

Just watched your Hawk V3 video. You know I like less aggressive (harsh feeling to my face) razors. I tried for months to get along with the stainless Vector. Someone mentioned that I might like the General or the Hawk. I had an aluminum Hawk for a day, didn't even shave with it, and saw someone wanting one in the BST so I sold it. The HUGE head scared me!  Confused

So I ordered a General V2 head (there were some in the "seconds" page on Colonial Razors site) and the new Hawk V3 stainless. For my face, the General gives a longer lasting shave than the Hawk. Now that I have a titanium Vector, I am just happier than a pig with a full trough! But I still enjoy the Hawk. If there is such a thing, it is my "look ma, no hands!" kind of AC razor!

I excepted these remarks from my own comment on Dave's video.  They seemed so germane to what we are about:

Thanks for another great video Dave.  By coincidence, I recently started experimenting with a V3.  I picked one up with a Titanium Halo handle when Italian Barber restocked them a few weeks ago.  I wanted to both see what the Halo was about and also to compare the V3 with my V3A.  It would be hasty for me to draw conclusions regarding V3 vs V3A, other than to say I that, unlike some, I prefer the more aggressive V3A at this point.  What really surprised me was my reaction to the Halo handle. OT1H I liked the balance and lighter weight a great deal. OTOH - and unlike most shavers - I occasionally have serious problems gripping a smooth handle, and the Halo was more problematic for me than most.  However, before seeing your video a few hours ago, I had already screwed the V3 into a different titanium handle for tomorrow's shave.  We'll see how it goes.

I am with you, Mike HighSpeed on the grippy thing. You'd think that the Halo would be grippy, but I like the TiBam textured handle better. I have lots of arthritis in both of my hands (advanced multi focal osteoarthritis per a hand doctor) and I am noticing that gripping slippery or small objects can get to be troublesome at times.

So I will say the problem I have with Yaqi razor development is they do it while they sell them and tweak until they get it where they want. Take yesterdays shave with the Excalibur now called Raster V3. Not sure which I have on loan from Eric BetterEveryShave I noticed that the blade would twist while tightening and give uneven blade exposure. I upon closer looking found the pins/posts that hold the top cap and base together have too loose a tolerance and it can be wiggled easily once assembled so you have to watch that it is aligned to start and also doesn't move while shaving. I got a good shave with it but it's no Vector. Mind you at the price difference you don't expect that but I would cough up the difference for the Vector myself and just my opinion. The Katana is another bird as it uses a half de instead of an artist club blade. I had a VERY enjoyable shave with it and between the 2, this would be my choice. Great smooth and drama free shave. Thanks again Eric for the loan to try these. I may get another shave with the Hawk and then send them back. I don't need time with the OC as I'm pretty confident I would get a similar shave but don't need an OC as I'm a daily shaver. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip and a Banana Nut Muffin with Costa Rican Coffee for me this morning. Have an enjoyable day all !!
