I’m in the same state of mind. I have been PIFing things behind the scenes to thin things out a bit. I have been making progress, but have a few more things to shed. There are also things I will still use up and just not replace. Razors and brushes are pretty much sorted and I’m working on soaps now.

Woah! You can't put Queen of Hearts on the bench?! Such a good scent, especially in the warmer months.

I'll be adding a few 1oz samples to my homemade puck a little closer to Spring.

I have another homemade/Clown Puke about full so this one can move along to someone perhaps as a Pif. Happy2

Ooh, whew! I thought that was an actual tub of QoH. Just an empty container for clown puke... Much better.

Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Wizamet (1)
Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere
Soap: Vintage Williams
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva
Fragrance: Nautica Blue

So Sneaky Eric MaineYooper slyly sent me his Blackland Blackbird to try. He had said he would after his foray was done but I didn't realize he was done and had mailed it. I'll say the low blade gap compared to the Yates H Plate will fool you because this is a much more aggressive feeling razor to me on first stroke on my dry cheek after putting a fresh blade in it (couldn't resist just to get a feel last night when it arrived) so I could know what to look forward to in the morning. I already had the N075 up for bat as I'm on the fence on selling it. Picture taken and everything but I have been so curious about this razor for so long seeing people say it's smooth and others saying it's a beast. Now the Ti is out and said to be smoother. My head was swirling on whether I wanted it or would regret it if purchased. That's where friends that will let you try theirs before you buy are invaluable. So I decided to go with the Blackbird and retake the Pic.

So my with the grain on the first few strokes that actually had soap this time I could feel and hear the cutting and I could tell that this was a razor to pay attention to while shaving more so than normal like a typical muscle memory shave. Watch the angle and keep the pressure light. Finished the 1st pass and yeah, VERY efficient. Probably the smoothest I've ever been on a 1st pass. The shave was smooth too if you watch the angle and pressure and were mindful (something I'm not always good at as my mind will wonder) 2nd pass was much more of the same thoughts as the 1st, smooth and doing it's job. This may have been the first time I ever thought, I could stop at 2 passes but I like the glass smoothness that comes from the 3rd atg pass. I went much slower and more methodical about this on my neck and especially the S to N on my chin, around my mouth and above my lip. No issues.........................almost. Caught a scar just below my nose with a decent dig into the skin which the fluids were held at bay by styptic there quickly. All in all a great shave and has me at a quandary. I'm a daily shaver and seldom need a razor this efficient but I do want to love it. It does have some blade chatter due to where it clamps the blade. It wasn't an issue for me but it is vocal to let you know about it when it hits kevlar whiskers on the atg pass.........................pondering and some more shaves are in order to make a good unhurried decision. Thanks again Eric for the chance to try this !!

Great review Dave! Well done Eric for passing along some play time with the razor! Sounds like another winner from Blackland.

Thanks Chris, it is another winner for Blackland. I'm just not sure it has a place for me or not yet. Have a great day !
