To be honest though present day synthetics match or exceed any of my Somerset Simpsons, M&F, Paladin, Shavemac brushes and on. I heartedly embrace these brushes. I think sometimes it's tough for some to admit a $15-$20 synthetic creates better prep than $250-$400 brushes.

Sourav makes a good point about residual slickness. I prefer CRSW actually in the warmer months. MW, Mike's, P&B, Manuel's new JabonMan's Premium Tallow all shine during the colder winter months. My favorite all around soap at the moment is L&L Grooming. Scott's doing amazing things right now.

Just great prices this month on Larry's products.

Good points all around!!!!
Picked up an extra tub of Spiced Amber, and figured I would give Bergamot&Bay a go as well.Prices was too good to pass on,should be in today.
Read somewhere that Larry was clearing stock to make room for some new products in the upcoming year, looking forward to them for sure.
I would also highly recommend L&L soaps, they have been hard to put down here lately for me.

Thanks for your replies. In terms of residual slickness, is it needed, I don't think so. And while I don't recommend shaving over an area without lather, I would say that buffing is a nice technique if you know how to hold whatever razor you're using with the correct angle. Unfortunately, I can say with confidence that once the lather is scraped off the skin, it has never left me with any residual glide. One unique and pleasurable quality about the lather is that if you have any left over from the unshaven areas, you can massage it in and it melt into your skin BETTER than any other brand that I have tried. It is absorbed beautiful into the skin and is one thing that I truly appreciate about Larry's formulation.

I am similar when it comes to using the tallow artisan soaps in winter. I have been using MW, Mike's, B&M, a couple others. I love the great performing veggie soaps and some seem to work a bit better or seem to balance my skin. Sometimes I am dealing with acne breakout while my skin is dry. So I don't simply need soaps that are super fatted but need a soap that uses ingredients that can do more than moisturize the skin. Anyways, I have found inconsistent results more recently and have had luck using veggie soaps as of late in our colder, drier climate here in Southern California.

One quick question since you brought up using badgers. Do you load any heavier with this soap vs your other soaps and do you find it takes a normal amount of water or can it take a lot of water?

This ^^^^^

Great soap. Easy to lather. Slick lather. But the post shave is TOO much for me. Leaves me greasy.

Ah, so maybe I wasn't imagining that happening to me first shave. Second shave was better, but we'll have to see how it goes. (Maybe the Oliva would be better in this regard?) That so far is my only concern with this soap, and I'm really glad that I ordered it without lanolin else-wise I'd still be trying to rinse it off. The Stirling with Beeswax and Reef Point unscented are also good at the lathering part but without any signs of greasiness afterward.

I found the Olivia to be worse. That is to say more moisturizing than the v2.

Wait what? How did I just now hear of this? The old soaps were amazing. Glad I just picked up 5 tins before Christmas. Looks Like I'm going to have to try this new soap, hope it's as good as the last.
