Yes Sir, shaved with it on Monday
Can we get a brief review? I preordered the new Paradigm instead of pulling the trigger on this one. Need to know if I am missing anything.

My review of The Silversmith by Colonial Razors won’t be a Dragonsbeard Review (his reviews are brilliant) but I will give you my honest thoughts...
The Silversmith
I LOVE Colonial Razors Brass General, I’ve never purchased an aluminum or SS as I didn't feel the need to spend shekels on something that cannot be improved upon sans a longer handle which is my personal preference thing. Say what you will about the Brass General, actually, I’ll say it, put it up against The Titans (P, A, CC, M) or other High End SE Razors; it outperforms. Those are all fine razors and I either own them or have tried it. Shake your head, whatever, but it’s the best in class for SE.
Because of the Brass General product and it’s reputation, I made the decision to purchase the second razor made by the Twins over at Colonial. Made in America because they wanted to use a local machine shop and their theme has been somewhat a Patriotism theme.
First impression: Classic Colonial Packaging, best in the industry! Cardboard Box, bubble wrap and a razor. Thank You for putting my money into manufacturing a good product, not into a storage/shipping box.
Fit and Finish: Wow, it’s flawless, any imperfections you see in my snaps is the glue from the blade. Threading is smooth as silk. Blade tabs stick out on the ends, my OCD tuned in immediately, I hate that. But that’s coming from someone who cannot watch TV if the volume is not on an even number. So here’s something; when you put the blade on the top cap and then put the base plate on top of that, begin screwing the handle down, you can hear/feel the blade adjusting/locking into place, like a crunching sound. I was concerned and tried 5 different blade manufacturers, does it every time. It’s not a flaw, it’s just the blade contouring to the plates. I studied it at every angle, laser measured the blade gap on each side, etc etc.... The blade is LOCKED down into place. I’m good with this and again, machining is flawless.
89mm/3.5’ head to toe with nice heft! My pinky rests on the bottom ball which helped me control the head. The 316L SS is a matte finish, smooth, no imperfections, mine is flawless. Thought I would hate the style of the handle, nope, love it. In fact, already have a shop making the exact handle in 95mm.
Performance: Used a Feather on half my face and a Voskhod on the other. I use Feather on every maiden voyage, it’s my ritual. The Voskhod was going to be for detail but I went rogue. The razor did glide over my skin, didn’t hit any bumps in the road. Zero blood, no irritation. It was a very mild and efficient shave. If I dare, it’s similar performance to a Level 1 Closed Comb Charcoal Goods. I said similar, similar, CG is a league of its own! Maybe a mild 34c? IDK, it’s a definite mild, can use everyday type of razor. I went with, across and against grain. I used a very light touch, I let the razor work it’s magic. Used SPEICK cream, love the smell and it’s very slickery. Was easy to find my angle at the onset so that was money in itself. 2 passes and done.
Value: Another stunning Artisan piece of hardware from a boutique shop. $125 with shipping stateside. IMO, for some ppl, dropping 125 can be burdensome. If an 89mm quality machined, impeccable finish, super efficient and mild razor is what you want, I think you can be very happy with this purchase. I really like it which is why I’m making an additional handle.
***On a personal note, there are razors out there I want VERY badly, however, once I get the overall length of the piece, that is usually the deal breaker for me in the over 150 range. Example: Blackland made it real easy; do you want an 89mm handle or a 101mm Handle? You Sir are genius for this. I’ll send you my money for “other” production pieces. Colonial can’t do that, it’s a tiny shop with owners that have real jobs. Colonial Razors is their passion work, and IMO, so far so good!

Thanks for that review and I love my Brass General and SS General but glad I passed on this one as I love more aggressive razors.
