Well, they can just scale production to meet their pre-orders. So they should never sell out of pre-orders since there’s nothing to sell out of. That’s the main benefit of pre-orders.

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

To me it seems that the razor hasn't created the amount of buzz that was expected. I mean, when they first showed their General series of razors, the interest in acquiring one of those just skyrocketed especially in the Brass and Stainless alloys. Even more so when the reports started coming in that it was a mild, smooth yet efficient shavers. They were different and just hit the right spot on RAD glands. And the Silversmith could potentially be the same way once it's in the hands of razor enthusiasts.

The Silversmith is somewhere in the middle, at least for me it is. I don't hate the look but, I don't love it either. Even though it's being made of a premium alloy with actually a pretty good price point, it doesn't jump at me and make me say "I need that in my rotation" as I would usually get when I see a new razor potentially being released. Maybe I'm just not into 18th century inspired design that it comes from. From what has been said and stated on their website is it's a middle of the road shaver in terms of mild/aggressive blade feel. And that's fine as there is no harm in that. But, there are plenty of razors out there that are middle of the road that to me just look aesthetically better.

In the end, the two brothers at Colonial seem like real good guys and I wish them real success on this one. What I'm really looking forward to is the 2nd Gen. General. That one has me chasing....

I agree with everything you said in this post. I jumped the first day the brass and stainless steel General’s were available but for some reason, this one just isn’t making me pressed to get one. I don’t need any mild razors in my rotation. I prefer mid aggressive to aggressive with a smooth feel and I have several high end razors that give me that with a Feather or PolSilver Blade. I wish they had done a pass around so that I had an idea of how it feels and shaves.

Being a fan of more aggressive razors, I wasn’t super interested until I watched Ruds give his opinion in a recent YouTube video and now I’m probably sold on one.
