COLD water shave

I still defend that the cold water shave will always give the best results (closest shave with least irritation). However, it isn't necessarily the most comfortable for some people and if we aren't enjoying our shaves then something is wrong.

I think it's one of the best kept secrets in our shaving movement. I prefer it so much, we made a video to get the word out!

Matt, what direction is your single pass shave? Also, if you miss a day of shaving can you still perform a single pass shave with clean results?

I prefer either cold water or hot water depending on the weather. I don't like lukewarm or room temp water shaving when the water won't get hot but wont get cold. I prefer cold water shaving in summer. To me it provides a overall less irritation shave. Hot water is fun though, and i prefer it in winter but I usually get more irritation from it. It's so personal that it really depends on what you want out of your shave.

Love it. Am new to it but I find it works great, especially for my neck, which tends to get easily irritated. I don't know that I'll do it every shave but I really like it. Getting great shaves. Hey, Ben Franklin recommended it. Can Ben be wrong?

I live in Florida, and I have a job that might require me to regularly be outside for extended periods of time. I exclusively cold water shave because of this. For me, it makes my shaves far more comfortable on the skin, as well as relaxing for the day ahead. I find that if I'll be outside, and its a particularly hot day outside, I'll use a heavily mentholated soap such as a Stirling Glacial, with cold water and let me tell you there's nothing more refreshing.

I'm going to try cold shaving starting in July, I try to do things for at least a couple of weeks to see if I like it. And I'm also going to use C.O Bigelow shaving cream also.

To me cold water shaving is good choice when my skin is poor condition. Almost every time when I shave after shower, i get irritation, no matter how I shave. My cold shave is colder than my skin, few degrees lower, it's enough fine.

Had my 3rd cold water shave this morning. Very nice. I just like the change-up from a warm water shave and did manage an easy BBS today so I'm happy.

Just tried my first cold water shave, and I have to say it's not that bad. For me it works what's your thoughts?

That was a great informative video. I may have to try a cold water shave to see if my face responds better. So when you say a cold water shave, how cold are we talking? Is it maybe slightly below room temp, a chilled water, or are we talking about having some ice cubes in there? Has anyone done that? I could experiment with the ice water, but after a shower I might go into shock. Haha

As far as the temp of the water goes for a cold water shave, it's the same for hot water; whatever you are comfortable with. Personally I let the water get as cold as it can get when I do a cold shave, while using all menthol heavy products of course lol Experiment, it's best for you to find what you like as far as temp goes
