Key word in that quote is "TSN". The seller can ask whatever he wants on this site. Welcome to the free market. If someone is willing to pay it, than I guarantee you both the seller AND the buyer will be happy.

This is from the BST rules of TSN:

In your FS posts, for all non-vintage items, you must state how much the items costs new and you must not ask for more than the item costs new. Further, members are encouraged to keep the sellers honest...Sellers wishing to turn a profit should sell on Ebay, a similar auction site, or their own website.

I thought the same applied here. Again, I didn’t want to offend anyone.

Use that as a gauge than look at price. I believe bobmsp (#3) indicated Haslinger. However, that is an expensive soap because it is 2 ounces for approximately $8.50. If it was 5 ounces it would cost about $21.

Weight than price

I think the difference is that **some** of these items become highly sought after even if the original maker still technically makes the item but the market has gone crazy over it. I personally wouldn't pay for any of the craziness I see. I like that DFS appears to take a hands off approach. AS LONG AS THERE ISN'T MISREPRESENTATION.

GLWTS OP and I am really happy, you offer razor here instead of that auction site.

If a simple question results in these reactions, then maybe I should better move on.

Hi @LithiumDawn.  There is no need to move on, really.  Your type of query does come up from time to time and there are two thoughts on it.  One is what you were suggesting, which might be considered a more gentlemanly approach.  The other is a let the market decide approach.  Neither one of these approaches is inherently wrong but each has flaws and a site will decide what works for it.  Unless there is suspicion of wrong doing or out and out nastiness in responses, here at DFS we will let the market decide.  The Shave Nook decided to go another route and put a limit on the amount certain items could be sold for, as expressed in your quote.  Neither way is wrong but I think you'll find that just as we have members who will sell at what the market will bear, we have other members who sell some of their wares at or below cost, in a way a form of Pay It Forward.

To be honest, I originally thought that I liked the TSN way better so when andrewjs18 decided our way would be mostly laizzes-fair I had my doubts.  Generally speaking, I now believe Andrew was absolutely right in his thinking.  Therefore, please, enjoy DFS, including the B/S/T, and just understand how that particular part of the forum works.

what Freddy said. having to continually police the bst section adds a lot of moderation overhead to the site. we'd rather do better things with our time like trying to make the site better or simply relax and interact on the forum.

First off here are the pictures that were requested for razor piece pics.

1) Paradigm 17-4
2) Paradigm 17-4
1) Timeless 0.95mm OC
2) Timeless 0.95mm OC

Now to address the noise:

You have no idea where I got the razor from, who sold it to me, or what I paid for it. Anyone who knows/understands the history of any product understands the higher than retail price for certain items. Wolfman commands a higher price due to a wait, BBS-1 commands a higher price due to it not being in production anymore, B&M Fougere Gothique and Night Music commands a higher price due to limited edition runs (and not being in production anymore).

You obviously do not understand these simple things and are making noise just like some of the members of the S_B community. These types of questions can be kept to PM but instead you choose to make them public. It's no better than spam especially since you obviously have no intention of buying the razor. I suggest anyone who has any issues with any price just move along instead of feeling like you are on a crusade to try to catch dishonest people fipping stuff.

I appreciate everyone who basically said what I'm saying now. The truth is I did buy it from a member of this forum and it is listed at the exact same price I paid for the razor (I am not even asking for paypal fees or shipping). This item came to me in the exact condition it is in now (like new). I shaved with it once and unfortunately the razor does not fit the aggressive profile I like so I put it back up for sale.

Thank you.

Wow, just wow. Is this your way of communicating with people? How old are you? To go forth and allege, I "obviously do not understand these simple things and are making noise" (I work in economy just FYI - but yeah, I probably don't understand these simple things...), or even more I were "on a crusade to try to catch dishonest people fipping stuff". Who are you to judge what I understand, and what I do not understand?

Did I criticize your price anywhere? Did I go and say "Hey, you're ripping people off"? No, I did not. All I did was ask you, why your price was more than the original RSP had been back then. You could have just gone and stated in your OP that you paid $450 yourself, and everything would've been fine, and I had never asked that question. But you decide to take the low route and lash out on me, while I had already apologized several times openly? You're a class act, you really are.

Also I would've never asked if I knew DFS had a let-the-market-decide policy beforehand - again, I sincerely apologize for being so dumb as not to have read the rules before I asked.

I was considering telling you this via PM, but as you chose to go the open way, so did I. For a second I was also considering buying the 17-4, but after your nice comments I will refrain from doing so.

So, GLWYS anyways, sir.

In fairness, this post probably caused offense with the OP.

The value of a shave tool applies to any other product that was limited in release and is no longer available retail. It’s value is what the market dictates. With that in mind, you will always have people that buy something and end up not liking it but you also have the people who scavage limited releases to make a few bucks.
