I ordered this Ikon 102 Slant from Maggard Razors last week and it arrived today. I literally opened the box 45 minutes ago and shaved with it immediately but only did 1 pass due to some nicks. I grabbed my 101 to finish the shave, then took a couple pics of the 102 and wrapped it back in its original package. It was a bit too aggressive for me with the Kai blade at least, and I have a Feather AS-D2 on the way so I'm letting this one go. I'm sure it will be a great razor head for others, and maybe even for me if I would have given it another try with a more mild blade but I am more interested in the AS-D2 right now. I paid $45.00 plus shipping and will sell it for $40.00 shipped. I will also work out a trade for a new B&M LGC shaving soap.

It's been out of the package for about an hour and a half and was used for 1 pass, actually 3/4 of 1 pass...lol.

you sure you do not want to give it a second try later on when your skin feels healthy?
102 is not a very aggressive razor by any means.

I might could tame it with a few more tries and a different blade perhaps but I really don't feel like messing with it and I like using Kai blades. I was thinking of sending it back to Maggard before I used it because I bought an AS-D2 the other day that shipped today. I have sensitive skin and believe the Feather will be the perfect razor. I realize a lot of people do not consider it aggressive, but I have very sensitive skin and thus do not want to spend time learning to use something when I have other razors that work perfectly fine. My Ikon 101 for example has been excellent since the first shave. I wouldn't even have bought the Feather if the Ikon had a closed comb on both sides, but since I don't use the open comb side too much I wanted to find another razor. Also, my EJ DE89 has been excellent since day 1. And actually I can use my Muhle R41 with an Astra SP and get great shaves as long as I have a few days growth. So I do have experience with several razors and I've learned my lesson of which ones to keep and which ones to sell. The Standard Razors razor is another one that I just couldn't tame after 2 weeks of daily use so I sold it. This 102 reminded me very much of that one, which is a very popular and well liked razor by the way.

Too bad it didn't work out but you should have no problem selling. I actually pulled out my ASD2 today and used it for the first time in a while; great shaver but a bit narrow on the most effective blade angle. Look forward to your thoughts and GLWTS!

If you think the #102 was too aggressive for you you might not be happy with the AS-D2, its a very efficient razor but I wouldn't call it mild. Obviously YMMV but I've been using the #102 with a Gillette Stainless blade for the last 3 shaves and one was a 2 day stubble and I'm finding it to be a very efficient and comfortable razor. I would have to try really hard to get it to nick me. I'm finding it to be a seriously pleasant razor. I also love my AS-D2 with a feather blade in it - very efficient.

To be fair to the 102, I do believe it I were to try an Astra SP or Polsilver SI in it I might enjoy it. I think a Kai might be too sharp for that razor. It wasn't that bad of a shave though actually, nothing like the time I put a Feather in my Muhle R41. I only nicked myself around my neck and chin.

I realize a lot of people on the boards don't like the AS-D2 because it's very mild but that is precisely why I am interested in it. My facial hair is coarse and full and grows fast, but because my skin is so sensitive the combination makes it difficult to use razors that are very efficient. However, I can get a very smooth shave in 2 passes with the DE89 and Ikon 101, so If the Feather can do the same in 3 passes or less I will be happy.

I would normally try an Astra SP and Polsilver SI before the Kai, but didn't really think about it because I've been able to use Kai in all of my razors except the R41. With that said, I enjoy my R41 with an Astra SP when I have a few days of growth. But my regular shaver is the Ikon 101, followed by the DE89. The 102 was fine until I got to my jawline and chin, but I'm sure that was due to technique and possibly the Kai blade. Thus I want to be clear here, I am not saying I would not end up liking the 102, but right off the bat it was not near as smooth on my skin as the 101 and DE89. If the 102 doesn't sell I may consider giving it another run with an Astra blade.

As for the AS-D2, nearly every review I have read says it is very mild, and many say it is too mild. Also, a lot of reviews say it's nearly impossible to cut yourself with it, which I'm sure is a little exaggerated. I guess it really is YMMV for everyone. I'll post my experience after I use it for a few shaves.
