The #15 that's up now is also a complete set but in a different case and look just as nice. Yes they are getting harder to find and more $$. Great shavers!

not touching that at that price. At that price I rather get the Rex Ambassador

The Gibbs is more efficient and smoother than the Rex. Also doesn't have all the issues that the Rex has. I did a side by side shave comparison on one of the other sites and the Gibbs came out on top in both efficiency and smoothness. It was also more maneuverable. In fact that particular Rex had not only fit and finish issues it had a blade alignment issue and the pins were off and it was tethering. For $250!! I don't think so. Gibbs are also clearly going up in value. Something I don't see happening to the Rex anytime soon or in the near future and if there is any hope of that happening they beed to get their QC problems taken care of for sure before I'd ever consider owning or recommending one. So I'd take the Gibbs at the same price a Rex sells for any day of the week.

that might be the case but I wont spend that much money on a old safety razor. One just sold last night on French ebay for $21, too bad the seller didn't want to deal with international shipping.

Patience is what it takes, I have seen people paying on ebay for British Gillette Aristocrat #15 whether OC or SB for $700 each, sure they came in original package and were in decent shape, while mine didn't came in original package, so so shape but I never cared for the packages and I paid for both of mine OC and SB $170 total with shipping.

Patience is a virtue and I got plenty of it ;-)

I’m with you on being patient as I’ve amassed a very nice collection of both vintage and modern razors and I guess my point was as far as shave quality goes I’d rather spend the money on a Gibbs than a Rex. As the Rex stands now and until it’s issues are taken care of I wouldn’t even spend the $22 that Gibbs sold for in France on one. Which bye has to be the lowest I’ve seen a mint or near mint Gibbs Adjustable sell for and I’m always looking. One that was in just ok condition sold last week in France for 102 Euros. So I guess I look at it like why buy a razor at any price if it’s not a great shaver or of course you just want one cause it looks good or have an emotional attachment to it.

Nice collection of Aristocrats you have there and I also have quite a nice collection of both British and US Aristocrats and I have a little OCD so I look for very minty ones as that’s my preference when it comes to Aristocrats and some I’ve gotten at what I’d call a bargain price and some I’ve paid good money for. I have a NIB # 15 that I paid $240 for but have no regrets as I love the looks of the carats especially if they have the barberpole handle.

Alls good I guess to each his own right!

Not to derail the thread since you are looking for something specific, but that is a nice collection of Gillettes.
