P.S. I’d love to hear what you have to say about Santal Auster and Rose Santal. And Blackberry Bay Blossom, but that’s unobtainium, now and into the future.

Thank you, Scott, for your kind words! I would love to try those when they become available. I plan to order a Rose Santal sample along with Santal Auster when it is released in February. Smile

For those of you who who don't know yet: At 3pm CST today, Sudsy Soapery re-released the "Delor de Treget" soap in collaboration with Chatillon Lux. Remember to enter the code for 20% off: SUDSYDELOR

As of now, there are 28 units left.

How is Sudsy Soapery Shave Soap? I’ve never used it and don’t hear much about it.

Sudsy Soapery shaving soap is considered by some of wet shaving's experts to be among the best. I've got a couple and I'll say that their slick and lather is excellent - scents are OK if a little light for my taste but with a CL scent, well, what more can I say?

Good post stesa , the only points I'd quibble with is the pine in Fourth&PIne, I don't get any pine whatsoever and the eucalyptus and camphor in Champs de Lavande, I don't smell that either but every nose is unique and you've done a great job describing some of Shawn's products.

Thanks

Thanks, stesa , for the really insightful and thoughtful reviews. I always love hearing stuff like that. Also, it's really awesome to be mentioned in such great company. Obviously, Guerlain's Vetiver is a favorite of mine.

Totally agree with you, Marko! One of my possible biases comes from referencing Toners, which do not contain alcohol, compared to Aftershaves, which do. Alcohol is a wonderful thing in perfumery: it helps create separation in the scent structure, therefore making some notes more distinct, while others less so. Moreover, "scent memory" is a very real thing - our noses are more prone to picking out familiar scents from our past. Both of these help explain why everyone has a different interpretation of the same scent. Smile

Thanks for the kind words, Shawn! I can definitely see why your products enjoy rave reviews both here, and on other shaving social media platforms.

Thank you for your dedication to your craft.

Great post stesa! I am a big fan of Shawn's creations. First through the different soap projects and now starting to get some AS as well. I am particular thankful as living in Sweden there is a problem with getting alcohol shipped. Your insights really helps in trying to decide where to go next. Now I have found 'Top of the chain' which luckily ships internationally even though it takes some time (boat) and I have started stocking up on the AS as well.

Today, Gratiot League Square and La Quatrième Ville soaps by Declaration Grooming went live on DelcarationGrooming.com, Maggard Razors and Top of the Chain. They will also be up soon at Canadian Blade Company.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

Has anyone had the chance to try any of these soaps? I will go by the scent since I don't find any issue with the performance at all. Am a happy user and want to bag a one or two more from Declaration Grooming.

I ordered very early on Tuesday and they arrive today from Maggards. I imagine a number of shaves will happen tonight.

We know what you get from Declaration. I would get the scents from Shawn at Chatty Lux. My favorites right now from Chatty Lux are YRP, Gratiot and Bon Vivant.

Can't wait for the YRP soap and hope Scott nails it like Wholly Kaw did.

Top of the Chain has quickly become my go to vendor. Carmine carries an extensive inventory of artisan products and he is open to suggestions if there's something you're looking for that he doesn't carry. I get the overseas shipping, I'm in Canada and I ordered some product from the UK recently. It took 7 weeks to arrive! If I order from US vendors/artisans its a 2-3 week wait and even within Canada I'm usually looking at 2 weeks (thanks Canada Post)

Anyone wondering about the scent of Gratiot League Square or La Quatrieme Ville should not worry, they are two of hawns ' original scents (I think) and are both very nice and if you haven't tried the Declaration Grooming soap yet, well, its excellent as well. You should be aware that although Shawn said these two soaps are permanent additions to the lineup, LQV is a seasonal release which means (Shawn, correct me if I'm wrong) that it will be released annually for a limited time (season) and I think this year its available until March. So if you want it you should probably get it sooner rather than later. LQV also pairs nicely with Omnostre EDT if you're an EDT person.

I have no doubt that Scott will do an excellent job on the YRP soap - I haven't heard a timeline on that one yet ( hawns ?) but I am looking forward to it. Once I get that one I will have YRP, which is one of my favourite CL scents, in the Wholly Kaw, T+S and Declaration Grooming bases - I'm not sure how it gets any better than that? Maybe in a Grooming Dept duck tallow base?
