Thanks for the heads up. I just placed an order for one to go with my black oxide. Hopefully, I can find someone to trade an 85 mm handle for 101.

I’ll trade my 101 for your 101!  Same mindset!  But glad to have one headed and who knows, maybe we will like the longer handle?  My Gillette Black Beauty and Merkur Futur work just fine with the longer handle.  He had it in polished but machined is the finish I (and I suppose you) wanted.  Been a while since I’ve been excited for an inbound razor.

You might like the 101, a lot of people do.  I have actually tried the 101 before and I didn't like it.  I met Shane when I was in San Francisco for a work trip and he let me borrow a brass blackbird with the 101 handle.  I prefer short handles though, <= 80 mm.  The 85 is even longer than what I like.  I have the 70 mm handle on my black oxide and I really like it.  The brass machined finish has a great look to it, so I didn't want the polished.  The Charcoal Goods handles fit inside the insert area of the base plate, so you can buy one of those if you don't like the 101 and can't find an 85.

Second shave on my brand new Blackbird brass and wow!  I thought the 85mm handle was my jam but 101 it is and it feels better than fine.  Glad I’m no longer in the “I don’t have a Blackbird” camp.  Thanks Shane and thanks mrdoug For turning me on to the sale.
