What is "cg"? (other than "U.S. Coast Guard Intelligence", or "General-Purpose Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Diffractometer (GP-SANS) CG-2 instrument"
Is it a typo for "GC" (Game Changer)?

I believe they mean Charcoal Goods

I made a pre-order. What was the point of pre-ordering?

Great question. And the I think the real subtext you're getting at is "why did I pre-order, give you my money, and wait for months when I could have just ordered after they're in stock anyways?".

The answer is that the pre-orders are the reason there is sufficient inventory for new orders to ship. Pre-orders allowed me the ability to evaluate real demand and scale production accordingly. These razors are very expensive to make and I was unsure of how well they would sell so I would have taken a conservative approach and under-produced. Demand is much higher than I expected and without pre-orders I would have produced less than half as many razors and, based on pre-order demand, they would have sold out in a day. Pre-ordering guarantees you a razor that would have otherwise been in very short supply and also gets you a lower serial number. In return, I get the insight that I'm looking for so I can make appropriate production decisions.

In short, pre-orders means that everybody gets a razor. No pre-orders means that you and all the other would-be pre-orderers would be fighting over a limited number of razors and many of you would have missed out which sucks for all of us.

As it is, we're running low on SB razors already. So we're ramping production up again.

Shane thank you for explaining the reasoning behind your decision, you shouldn’t have to justify yourself to anyone. If they don’t like it that means more for the rest of us. We shavers can be a demanding bunch and I think most of us are more than happy we preordered, you always deliver an exceptional product and stand behind it

I appreciate the support! But I think it was a reasonable question and more than fair to ask. I can see why a pre-orderer would feel a bit shafted and I certainly don't mind explaining my rationale to a customer. I've always valued openness and I'm happy to handle questions like these.

Thanks for the explanation Shane! I don't mind pre-orders on products where there's a reputation preceding it. I knew I'd get the Tradere. As long as there's communication happening on progress (even when that info is about a set back), it's a good process. It's sometimes agonizing cause Amazon has got us assimilated to Prime. FWIW, I'm not one to go on first time Kickstarter type projects.

For the OP....looks like you ordered the SB. I'm sure you'll like it, I've seen great reports from both options. I bought the OC version on the pre-order, love the blade feel, awesome addition. The Tradere's fit n finish....a few have compared to polished razors at much higher prices, but that also goes for the Vector and Dart in my little collection.

First shave today with the Tradare OC, I too was on the fence as I prefer SB over OC but when Shane compared the OC as closer to the Blackbird shave (in my top 3 razors) I went with the OC. I’m glad I did, I used a new Personna blade that was included with the razor and I did a 3 pass shave and even did a third pass on my neck that I normally only do with mild razors but this shave was for scientific purposes. Well as this is a hefty razor I let it’s weight do the work, it never felt menacing and was a comfortable irritation free shave which is probably the most important thing to me as a daily shaver. I’m glad I went against my preconceived opinions on the OC vs SB debate
