Hi everyone,
Have been following damnfineshave for a while now and always look forward to reading the new posts and threads.

I haven’t posted before but wanted to take the opportunity to thank Shane and the crew at Blackland razors for manufacturing such a great razor.

I didn’t think there would be too much of a difference between my SS Blackbird and the Ti version other than the weight but I have to say the Ti shaves like a completely different razor. It is very efficient just like the SS version but with less mass lends itself to a very manoeuvrable razor. This lack of weight feels like I am not gripping the handle so firmly which in turn lends itself to being better able to feel the razor against the face.
Whereas with the SS I have to use due care and diligence to get a fantastic smooth abrasion free shave, with the Ti every aspect of the shave felt easier and quicker.
Just a great razor, and yes cost does come into it, especially taking duties into the UK into consideration but I am glad I bit the bullet and purchased.
The SS blackbird is great but the Ti just raises it ever so slightly

Thanks everyone
Scott

I just got this setup as well from the latest drop. Does your razor sit crooked in the stand like mine? I concur about the shave

I have to balance the razor upright in the stand, it certainly isn’t a snug fit with lots of movement. To be honest the stand when compared to the razor is a letdown, the razor in my opinion should fit perfectly from the get go and I think it’s a bit of an oversight that this issue continues to be raised in forums. I don’t know whether there is difficulty in manufacturing grooves into the base that correspond to the grooves in the handle but for sure the ability to off centre the razor with the slightest bump or touch is annoying.
Perhaps Shane could offer a 3D printed insert out of plastic for the base if manufacturing difficulties mean there will always be play in the base.

But yes fantastic razor but seems odd the base / razor interaction gives room for play

Just my thoughts

Cheers

Absolutely a valid take considering that my vector and Sabre fit into the stand with 0 movement. I’m considering if I’m going to keep it at the price point. But the shave is so good.

Thats why I bypassed the stand for my polished Ti Bird.  I don’t understand because my Ti Vector has an extremely snug fit in the razor stand.

I get mine today, if the stand is jacked up I'll be sending it back for a refund.
It was not an inexpensive stand so the quality should match the price
Are the razors all as they should be?

Just checked my Ti set and the Bird seats strictly upright in its stand without much play.

The razors are genuinely fantastic, both in design, manufacture and execution. I think most people would agree that the Blackbird in any guise is definitely in the top tier of razors.

As a canny Scotsman, I review review review on any big purchase and the razor really is as good as everyone says.
But yep, the stand is a funny one and I’m not really sure why people are experiencing the looseness of fit, whether designed that way ? or a manufacturing difficulty.
For me, although the razor is fantastic the whole experience of owning should be great.Yes you might not get on with the Ti model due to weight or shave feel or whatever else but there should be no concessions or annoyances over fit and finish, and if it is annoying you then that brief hasn’t been met.The fact people are posting about this known issue means people aren’t entirely happy.
As CEO I would be taking note and investigating.

Maybe some videos of what people are experiencing would help, not sure if we can attach videos

So toothpaste will easily restore it to like new? If so I may have to reconsider one. Does anyone know if he is now taking orders for the MC 22 version?
