Jesus,Joseph and Mary and all the Saints of Ireland this nonsense again! The best soap is the one you just read about in the latest frenzy with vendors talking about it 'exploding into mounds of creamy smooth lather' and 'getting a lot of attention and rave reviews on the various forums.' The best soap? you can buy it readily by several vendors and it hasn't been reformulated or discontinued or costs a week of groceries and your first born male child. You keep going back to it redfaced ( sometimes from essential oils) after brief affairs with exotic offerings that turned out to be high maintenance, tempermental girlfriends who couldn't cook. It's the plain vanilla icecream on a hot summer's day, the bite of apple between winetastings and old beater, pre computer car in the garage you recomission when the car computers stop talking or there's another recall that everyone wants to buy off you.
We all have one, afraid to name it like that steady girl and old chevy.

I see a lot of ppl like B&Ms stuff - what is a great scent from them though?

Looking for fresh scents ALA Mickey Lee Kraken, Maggard's Barbershop etc. etc.

My B&M recommendation, based on the ones you listed, would be Seville. Maggards does samples for them as well, so you wouldn't have to invest in a full tub if you didn't want to.

My all time favorite B&M scent is the Leviathan. But...
This scent is very polarizing. Many hate it, some love it. I for one almost threw it in a trash bin after the first sniff. I am glad I eventually shaved with it. And to make a long story short it is now one of very few soaps I have a back up for.

I had the exact same experience with Lavanille and Leviathan. Those two scents are amazing, but Leviathan is easily one of my all-time favorite scents. I use the aftershave with any coffee scented soap just to have an excuse to wear it. I paired it with SV Cosmo yesterday actually.

You can't go wrong with B&M, and it sounds like Seville would be right up your alley as drjenkins recommended.

There is simply not ONE brand that is the best, instead we're lucky to have at least a dozen (or two) high quality soap vendors in the market today. The brands are well-known and already mentioned in this thread.

One of my favorites and a great choice for a new wet shaver - Stirling. They have a huge variety of scents and their sample pucks are cheap and last forever! Try Piacenza, Ozark Mountain, Tea Tree, South Padre and Baker Street.

Latha Oceana is a milder aquatic/fresh scent similar to Kraken. FWIW I find Latha to be the best value soap available, along with Stirling.
