Why anyone would stop making the razor that made him famous and the one with the most demand period? Makes no sense.

James will still be making the BBS-1 but he will just be releasing it himself from his own site. He’s also said that the new BBS-1 will have some “improvements”.
Demand will probably always be high for the LASSC BBS-1’s and the rest of us will get a chance to own the new Wolfman version which I can’t wait to try!

I doubt that we will see this "new version". Even if we see it, it won't be called LASSC or BBS-1. So, it will be just a new razor from James. But again, you really believe that you'll see it in the future? I don't recall where, but I've seen posts saying that he has some ideas for a SE, he has some new ideas for this, some new ideas for that... On the other hand, he stopped making the Guerilla and when fellow wet-shavers asked him if they could buy one, we knew that all we have to do is to send him an email regarding the Guerilla, he replied that he had some but didn't want to sell them. This whole thing is a joke.

We won't really have a chance to own the so-called new razor. That can be true if there will be a number of them available at a known time. Don't expect that from Wolfman. Think of Razorock for example. Even if I am not a fan of Razorock in general, they are more honest. Only the "insane" guys that refresh the page every second of the day to buy one Wolfman will be the lucky ones. Good for them. He has for sale a handful of razors each time, he knows that his page is being refreshed thousands of times and doesn't have to announce anything. It seems that some wet-shavers want to be played by a maker. Their time and life, not mine, but personally I see it as a joke.
Refreshing Wolfman's page every nanosecond, it's the new game of this wonderful hobby.

P.S. I own Wolfies, so I'm not jealous at all, but don't give a damn about the maker. He's a joker.

Well, I more so believe because I want to believe that I’ll still be able to get ahold of something like a BBS-1 in my lifetime, haha. It’s entireky possible that my hopes are misplaced though.

According to his site, James is moving his shop to a larger facility and I’m hoping he’ll be able to start producing the new razor at that time along with WR-1’s in metals other than stainless. But time certainly tells and I have no special information outside of his site and what I read on the Internet.
I understand your frustration and I admit I’ve been that guy who spent hours on more than a few Friday nights refreshing the page in the hopes of getting a razor.

I’d just really like to see these unobtanium razors like the BBS-1 available to all so we can share our experiences together. Here’s to hope!

I bought a Guerilla OC SS last month along with a couple other people. Was just polite and patient. He still might have a few. He wasnt fast at all responding just an fyi but after a week i felt like i could remind him without being a pain.

And with SO MANY other great razors being made today, who needs it. I get BBS shaves every time from my Timeless, Charcoal Goods (which is my favorite and Brian is a great guy to deal with and a Blackbird and they ALL have great customer service and great razors. Don't need James elitist attitude and business model at all. Never owned one, never shaved with one and don't need one. Just my .02

I haven’t read this entire thread, but I’ve seen enough to wonder why we all care about James’ behavior. I bought my Wolfman a long time ago, right when his reputation had ramped up to a level that, I believe, he did not expect. His customer service was impeccable—friendly, informative, accommodating and responsive. He and I even had email exchanges about how to address his sudden challenges due to the skewed demand curve he was facing. He seemed genuinely focused on how to figure it all out. My advice, which some of you may disagree with, was “live your life the way you want to—ignore the noise.”

I have no idea whether he listened to me (or even read my emails), but I don’t care. He’s a guy out there living his life, and trying to make a living as he sees fit. If he decided to bag his current career and become a starving rock musician, would we hold that against him?

I’m not trying to provoke—really—but sometimes I tell myself to step back and go to 30,000 feet. I wouldn’t pretend to advise anyone else how to live their life, but perhaps my self-advice might be relevant to others in this case.

Happy shaves, with whatever razors you’ve got!

Well my only thought to that Scott, and I agree with your premise of everyone living their life. However the man runs a business and I have tried to contact him over 10 times in the last few years and have never gotten a response. For comparision, just this week I had to contact Shane from blackland about a problem I had and he called me back within 10 minutes on my cellphone. Brian from Charcoal Goods, after I purchased a razor from him on Tuesday,e-mailed me unannounced and asked how I enjoyed the razor. Customer care matters and that was the basis for my post.

I personally believe this is the best shave community out there as I have shaved with Wolfies razor I believe they are just average razors at a astronomical cost. The other website as I will not mention at all had this type of feedback on wolfman razors you will be banned.

Barry, apologies for having my post land right after yours. It was not in response to your very valid thoughts. In fact, everyone's thoughts are valid. I was just relaying my thoughts as well, based on a general theme from the thread, and my personal experience with James from a time very long ago (not in time, but in evolution).

I freely acknowledge that Shane and Brian have very different business models from James, and I've had tremendous experience buying from both. And perhaps my positive experience with James was due to one of two factors, or both, i.e., I was actually a customer, and he was not yet residing in the upper stratosphere of razor artisans, without the infrastructure to handle that position (note I say "position," not "responsibility").

My point is simply that if he can't see someone, for whatever reason, despite that person's desire to be seen (remember "Sixth Sense"? Sorry, that doesn't really work, does it?), maybe it's time to stop seeing him. I don't think James would disagree with that, although I don't even pretend to speak for him.

Have a great weekend, Barry, and enjoy your new Charcoal Goods razor! Go Mariners!

No problem Scott. I have nothing personal against James, don't know him and I do wish him well. I know he makes a great razor, I just won't chase one when there are so many other great artesian makers today. And good luck to your Mariners, they are having a good season
