What are you waiting for?  There are so many to choose from that it might be a bit overwhelming.  If I were to make a couple of recommendations I'd say for a traditional classic bay rum, go with something like Captain's Choice or Krampert's Finest and for a creative, non-standard riff on bay rum, go with Barrister & Mann.  Both make matching soap and aftershave splash.  Obviously the B&M soap base is going to be a better but the Captain's Choice and Kranpert's are no slouch and will give you a perfectly acceptable shave.  If you want you can use a little of Grooming Dept's Moisturizing Pre-Shave and then you'd have no complaints.

there's definitely enough out there to get your feet wet.

I've always been a fan of B&M Bay Rum, Mike's Bay Rum, Stirling's Bay Rum and of course my favorite being Krampert's Finest Bay Rum..

Our good friends over at Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements have just released their Kiritamati collection for Christmas and I'm very happy about that  Happy2  Have a look a the Pirate Santa graphic on their website - its awesome.

https://phoenixartisanaccoutrements.com/...collection

This is one of the nicest,  most complex bay/bay rum inspired scents that I've experienced and I use it year round  - Kiritamati is Christmas Island so that's where the Christmas theme comes from but its such a beautiful scent that you'll want to use it all the time and not restrict its awesomeness to just Christmas time.

I'm very pleased with PAA's commitment to maintaining, exploring and developing Bay Rum and Bay inspired fragrances - while the PAA Classico Bay Rum is excellent, they haven't stopped there.  I'm curious what incredible bay rum innovation is coming next.

Keep up the great work CaD314

Czech and Speake Cuba. OK, I've been wanting to try this one for a while but I could never find a sample and I wasn't going to drop that kind of money on the chance I might like it.  I wandered into a local shop last week - Kent of Inglewood that carries a reasonable line of shaving products.  They had this stuff and I could sample it.  I now own it in aftershave and I'm contemplating springing for it in cologne as well.  I was intrigued by the bay and the rum in the scent profile without it being considered a Bay Rum - no, its what I'd call bay inspired.  Anyway, I love it and my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.  I could have been smelling this good for a lot longer!!  Happy2

Vibrant. Sensual. Exotic.
Truly evocative of the old town of Havana and its Latin rhythms, Cuba bursts into life with the top notes of bergamot, lime, peppermint and a hint of rum. Layered with a melange of spicy and floral middle notes of rose, clove, bay and tonka beans to add a subtle softness. The base notes of tobacco mixed with the richness of frankincense, cedar wood and vetiver round off this striking fragrance.
Cuba is a powerful, fiery blend of the highest and purest quality aromatic essential oils, with deep and lasting undertones. Presented in a vibrant red glass reagent bottle, inspired by 19th century apothecaries. Enjoyed by both men and women.

I finally picked up a bottle of B&M Bay Rum aftershave. I've had the soap for years and love the scent but never owned the aftershave. I'd say that the aftershave smells even better than the soap....there's slight differences between the scents which is probably pretty normal given that they're different bases and such.

I also picked up a bottle of long rifle's bay rhum aftershave too. while it smells pretty good, I'd give the edge to B&M.

While we're on the topic, Rooster's Nest just listed a fresh batch of their bourbon barrel aged Bay rum, based on a 1922 barber formula. I have heard good things and look forward to trying this one!

This stuff does smell great. I had a sample vial of it a few years ago and really savored it. I'm kicking myself for not pulling the trigger when Maggard had their Black Friday sale, I had it in my cart but I just didn't go through with it. Someone(s) else did. They're sold out.
