For those that have gone through a tub of Reserve, would you say that a tub doesn't last as long as other soaps? This soap is just about the best that I've tried, but I'm wondering if the "stringy" loading is a result of having more base on the brush than typical soap. I blindly purchased the Classic combo, and will for sure be looking at acquiring one or more of the other scents.

I wouldn’t say it goes any faster than any other soap from similarly ranked artisans.

For sure check out Fern!

Well I have been using Cool for sometime now and don't share the same feelings as OP. I didn't see any considerable reduction in the quantity after 7/8 shaves.

Are you blooming your puck?

I just finished a tub of Reserve Lavender and got around 32-35 shaves, which is typical in all the BM I’ve used up. I’ve gotten as little as 25 shaves in one of the tub I used before using badger brushes but lately have been using synthetic which seems to use less soap.

That's it?? Seems like you should get easily 3 times more shaves out of a normal 4 or 5 oz. tub of soap. I can get 20+ shaves out of a 1 oz. Stirling sample.

Holy shit!!! I know I get less mileage out of a tub of Reserve or Glissant over white label or black label, but 25-30 shaves a tub?!?!?! What brushes are you using???

That seems oddly low. How heavily are you loading your brushes and are they animal hair or synthetic?

I have had 6-7 shaves on Cool Reserve and can't see any substantial drop in the level of soap. My guess is that this soap would last min 50 shaves for me or more.

I was using mostly Simpson Manchurian before. I used up two tubs of Arctique two summers ago. I’m now using synthetic brushes and have gotten around 35 shaves per tub. So far I’ve used up about 7-8 tubs of BM soaps and have consistent number of usage per tub. I tend to load on the heavier side as I like to enjoy the lather so this could be it but I am trying to figure out how to extend the number of shaves.

Definitely animal hair brushes like badger uses more soap in general no matter what base, in my experience. My larger declaration knots require a lot more loading than synthetic because synthetic doesn’t hog or hold the lather like badger can/does. If you’re trying to get all you can out of a tub synthetic is the way to go. Reserve base with a synthetic knot probably only requires a 15 second load or so.
