Mystic Water is another good one, similar to Stirling. I think Seville is my favorite though and I believe that it did have an aftershave with the same scent. Wasn't it "Original" Kyovu?

I still have some of that, I'll have to do a side by side.

Barbershop nostalgia wise for me would be Pinaud Clubman. I walked to the barbershop with my grandfather on the first Saturday of every month as a small kid and the place reeked of it lol.

I love when I can find a shaving scent that brings back memories from long ago.

Same here. Reminds me of my dad, but come to think of it, it might be the talcum powder.

barbershop scents are very subjective, IMHO. I think it all comes down to when you were growing up. for me, I was born in the late 80s and thus, when I became old enough to even shave, getting a hot towel shave in a barbershop was basically unheard of. that said, the barbers I went to with my father would still use pinaud talc in their brushes to dust off my face and neck.

those issues aside, I think my favorite barbershop scent is probably old norse from viking soap...followed by B&M Seville and then Mike's barbershop.

Growing up, I really didn't pay attention to the scent of the barbershop I went to, although I remember ashtrays, Playboy magazines, and talcum powder. So I guess that scent would be described as "Dirty Old Man", which reminds me a bit of Clubman Special Reserve. But SR smelled way better than these places.

Now, whenever I go into a barbershop, I smell bay rum and talc. And the scent that really nailed that was Mama Bear's Soap "Ye Olde Barbershop". I was sad when I finished that soap, but only for the scent. The performance was lacking, IMO. My next favorite was probably Erasmic cream. And then there's TOBS Mr. Taylor's and Shaving Shop. Both of those were more citrusy, but heavy on the talc.

I have a tub of Barrister & Mann Seville on the way (because it seems like that's what everyone's raving about nowadays). And I still have 3 unopened bottles of Clubman that I purchased several years ago that I need to use up.
