It won't be available until 9 June, but they are now offering a sample pack so we need a "victim" to take one for the team and order the sample pack. Volunteers?  Tongue

Will was doling out samples at the Maggard meet so I have sample of each. I haven't got to use any of them yet, but they do smell great!

OK, the $64,000 question is how would you describe the smell of the Reserve Spice soap?

Exactly like the aftershave, lol. Which is to say fantastic! It is a clone of vintage Shulton Old Spice. I have never smelled that so I can't say how close it is, but by most accounts I've read, it is pretty accurate.

Well, since I haven't smelled their AS that doesn't help me, but thanks anyway. I have vintage Old Spice AS & cologne and to my nose the current Stirling Spice shave soap is very damned close to it. I also have a tub of the discontinued British Wickham Spice Trade soap that is close as well. I may have to break down & buy this new B&M one.

I thought I would share my thoughts about these because I know I have been eagerly anticipating them and I figured many others would be as well.

I received samples of the 3 soaps and splashes on Monday.

The scent strength of all the soaps is very good, particularly Cool and Spice. They are all spot on matches for the aftershaves as well.

If you are a Floid Blue fan, which I definitely am, I would highly recommend Cool. I have been waiting for years for somebody to create this soap. I have almost begun to worry that the magic of this scent might wear off now that it will be abundantly available.

I'm a little on the fence about the classic scent, because I feel there is one particular note in it which it shares with Floid Amber that sort of bugs me, but I can't really place it and I may be wrong anyway. IMO It's a pleasant, inoffensive scent otherwise.

Spice is a great warm scent which I do feel is close to the old school Old Spice and I will definitely be picking it up in the full tub when available. I see it becoming a staple for me in the colder months.

The performance of this base is quite good. Without engaging in too much hyperbole, I do think it is an improvement in the latherability department. I'm not sure that department even needed an improvement from the glissant base. I scooped a little bit out of the sample jar and created a great lather that I feel is up there with the best. You can probably shave for nearly a week with each of those samples. I'm really glad these are being made and will be permanent offerings.
