Thanks Dave, I may have to take you up on that offer. Let me ponder a bit more whether I want to revisit the GC.

Much appreciated!

Today I decided to go completely crazy and use pretty much everything that I was uncertain of. There are several things that I needed to try. I figured, let's just get them all out of the way now.

I used the razor rock baby smooth aluminum razor. I had One of these early on in shaving. I just couldn't get a consistently non-irritating shave out of it. I think it was the angle, coupled with me being brand new to the hobby. Fast forward to a few months ago, I managed to get a hold of another one from a friend. It was beaten in battered, but cost me nothing, and allowed me to know for sure if it's the razor or simply my newness that was causing problems. I think I posted here sometime ago, it was definitely me. The razor is smooth, albeit not the most efficient. Still, I wanted to give it one more shave before it was sent to the dungeon.

After I realized that a majority of the Sir Henry's black and tan was gone, I decided to build it up in a makeshift way to finish my boar break-ins. This worked, and I still have a bit left after that. What I did to build it up was add a little bit of two niche shaving soaps that didn't work (performance wise) for me, as well as a piece of a hand soap that fits the scent profile, and some ethos lather booster for slickness. With the end result, you can still smell the black and tan, but it's a lot sweeter. For those who know me, that's a win in my book.

Finally, I decided I would go with potentially the biggest question of my boars... The Ever-ready with a 24mm Oumo (stubby) knot. I must have done 20 plus breaking lathers. This knot is still prickly. Nonetheless, I figure I'd give it a shot and see how it does for a full three pass shave.

With a buildup like that, you'd think it was a disaster. Honestly it wasn't. The razor didn't cut as close as I wanted and I had to go to the Henson for cleanup. The soap was surprisingly slick, though I could feel some irritation... Probably from the stirling pumpkin hand soap (they even have a warning on their site for their shave variant that the soap causes irritation). The brush... That's where it was touch and go. I could tell that it was better than when I got it, but not by much. It definitely caused some irritation, but did produce copious amounts of lather that was well made and protective.

This Oumo, with that prickly feeling, is exactly why I avoided Boars from the get go. This guy might be ejected from the den. We'll have to see.

Darn. It's a Facebook video link my wife found. Captain Picard clips making up the song Let it Snow.

Time you figure out another link... Please hold. Lol.

Since it's DecemBoar, my shaves have been going to that thread (for the most part). Thus, this thread has gone a bit quiet. To remedy that, I thought I'd update this thread with my most recent aquisition.

This afternoon I picked up a '47 Gillette Superspeed. After seeing Bryan Old Sarge post his shave with it, and getting some info from him, I decided to grab one and give it a shot.

With a little postal magic, it could be in line for a Christmas shave. [Image: 4bc40984832d9a999a96d7f68bc41f5b.jpg][Image: ef466a1a78c2329b5b29a869b11ffec1.jpg]
