Social medias have changed the wet shaving scene especially during the pandemic period. When it started I thought that forum participation/discussing on forums/reading them would be a "trend".

For example, I noticed that TSN has gone from 18-20+ pages of SOTDs per week down to 6!!! How about that. 70% down.

Golden era is no more?

I used to post nearly every day. Once I went through all the equipment I have there is really no reason to keep posting.

Holding same or higher here. Probably just TSN, I don't frequent it anymore and others may have ceased as well........

I started wet shaving just under 3 years ago. At the time, I initially joined here as my first forum (April 2018?). It took me well over a year to find out that TSN was not a historic and closed forum. Seriously, I thought it was shuttered years before I started. Lol.

Maybe I'm clairvoyant?

I think sometimes we fail to realize that DE/SE shavers are at best 0.001% (if that) of total shavers. As well, the vast majority come, try and then depart. Only we few handsome & devoted remain.  Wink

For me “alive” means still curious, still open to learn new things, to meet new people, to change completely the opinion on something. The majority’s only guidance is to be part of the herd. Every single person converted to the wet shaving showed courage that the majority don’t have. In some way we are like Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena”. Respect for the Artisans and wet shavers for being alive.

I think when someone discovers wetshaving for the first time it is exciting. In 2014 and 2015 a lot of people discovered the hobby. A lot of excitement followed. Now a days it just seemes like all of that excitement has passed.  How many  discussions can we have on technique, razors and soaps before the conversation starts to become repetitive? I believe the hobby is alive,  but the excitement and the chatter have dwindled.

Posting Freak
I’m not bored with life or shaving. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new or meet someone interesting and to have a great shave. If you’ve decided that you’re going to be a clean shaven man then shaving is what you must do so you may as well enjoy it.

I was one of the newbies from 2015. I have seen the forums ebb and flow over that time. I enjoy reading the excitement that someone has when they discover traditional or wet shaving. And I have really come to enjoy the social aspect, of sharing both shaving and what's going on in my life or their life. I see this more in the Journal section. Some weeks the traffic is lighter in all threads and maybe even in other forums. And then it picks up again!

New or Veteran, in my opinion, what makes a BRILLIANT Shaving Forum is Community Participation
