The sharp edges could be a hazard, yes, but you could hardly say that they "poison the environment". The metals in the alloy did, after all, come out of the ground.
I'm far more concerned about pollution by microplastics.
I send my used blades to King's Landing in Westeros, where they get welded to the Iron Throne.
