Sorry to hear that, but not surprised, as I found the R1 to be the same…

Wow I thought the R1 was a little above middle of the road for me. I would say 6 out of 10. Have either of you tried the H1?

Haven’t tried the H1 yet, though I’ve been thinking about getting one for quite some time. There’s now also the Calypso H2, but those open comb teeth do look a bit sharp…

I have the H in the Windsor version and I would say it compares very closely to the Timeless .95 SS

I recall reading somewhere that the Windsor version might be a little bit smoother than the original stainless. Haven’t seen any feedback about the Calypso H1 in general, let alone compared to the other versions.

Those Windsor versions are really something special, though. Beautiful creations.

Returning Wet Shaver
I have only tried the Calypso in H and the ATT SS H2. For me the Calypso H was a little smoother than the SS H2. Both yeilded a nice BBS shave. It's worth a try if you like a very efficient shave. For me like a Fatboy on 8. Not as close for me as the R41 (13) or the Ikon Tech, but nice just the same. I like the Calypso H for triming sideburns, makes a nice clean edge.

+1 the Calypso in a slant would be of interest.

I have an M1 and I am actually trying to get rid of it. While it has a small blade gap is surprisingly has more blade feel than I like. It’s definitely plenty efficient!

Good news! I have the R1 plate now and with two shaves in I like it much better than the M1. I think the R1 has the perfect amount of aggressiveness for me. I'll be trying this out for a bit with different blades I have here.

gregcss, that is good news, indeed! Let us know if you find a blade that seems to work particularly well.
