No worries! This was my first AE purchase, and it was in the new base that everyone is raving about, so I haven’t tried it yet.

I am sure the HS kid will like it.

As a side note, I liked the pear scent in TOBS Platinum Shave Cream, which was another reason I wanted to try this one.

Oh well...can’t love everything!

Aren't you even curious how it works you should scrape out a little bit and try it.lol I had a tub of signature and it was pretty nice, and that's strictly from base perspective. All these since our pretty subjective, I'm not crazy about most soap scents for some reason.

I am curious, and I thought about scooping it just to see if the scent evolves as I lather.  However, the fragrance off of the puck and I just are not compatible.

It reminds me of a lady from my work that uses a TON of hairspray, and so I will move it on.

Lol! A ton of hairspray, hmm that does sound good.  Maybe Maggards will have samples some upcoming time.

Ha!  That will be a hard pass on those samples!

I know the scent purportedly has more going on than just pear, so as I have not smelled/used it could you please describe what it is you didn't like?  Huh

The thought of having a scent that is similar to Asian Plum but with a slight note variation does not sit well with me.

I currently have eight A&E soaps: 6 of the earlier Goat's Milk base, and 2 of the mid-2019 base containing strained yogurt. For the later half of 2019, I considered the strained yogurt base to be one of my elite soaps. The Asian Pear scent is released in an updated version of the original yogurt base.

As far as I can tell, the updated version contains the same list of ingredients as the 2019 version.  Peter may have tweaked the ratio of ingredients to improve performance. I have not tried the revised base to see how much improvement there is over the 2019 version. However, it is on my list of soaps I would like to lather. However, with my current collection of 175 soaps, I have run out of storage space. I need to clean out some of my lower quality soaps.

If you do not like the "hair spray" aroma of Asian Pear, you might try leaving the top off the soap for a week or two. The most volatile components in the scent should evaporate, hopefully, lelssening the "hair spray" scent.

I had to do that when I tried Tabac. The smell of the soap when I first unwrapped the puck was disgusting to my nose. However, after it sat uncovered for a couple of weeks, the scent is almost pleasant.

This scent is awesome. I personally do not get much carryover from Asian Plum, just a mildly sweet pear backed by some warm and woody notes. It will be a wonderful soap to use throughout the summer.
