It has not been accomplished by making a huge purchase of things and starting again but by only a CAN'T pass on it item and just that 1 and done approach thus resetting the no buy for me. In fact I think the Executive was my only purchase for the month but I'd need to look back to be certain. Looking forward to April with no real wants/needs. Best wishes to all in whatever they attempt/accomplish !

Yea! Congrats Dave. That's much better than I've fared.

I've been doing horrible and really need to step up my game. In my defense, I didn't try for March, as I had plans (to waste $$, lol). Perhaps April will be the month for me?

I made my goal of going four days in the month of April without a purchase. It's getting easier to turn away from soaps, aftershaves, razors, and blades. And since I converted most of my creams to hand soaps, my soap hoard has shrunk by nearly 700 grams. (Only 17 kilos of soap to go! I should have everything wrapped up by April 2057. Piece of cake.)

But now brushes have got under my skin. I've never been a brush man. Though I have a dozen in my stable, I generally use only two. But lately I've been bit by a yearning for a blue-handled brush. Inexplicable. When it comes to making a lather, what difference does the color of your brush's handle make? None. But for some reason, I just can't consider using a blue-labeled soap unless I have a blue-handled brush. Luckily I already have a blue razor and plenty of Gillette Silver Blue blades. What a weird preoccupation.

Nothing to be sorry about, my friend! You showed restraint last month, and arguably, are showing restraint now in not buying EVERYTHING that calls out to you!

Now I am wondering if I need to color coordinate my shaves! Brushes, and specifically handles, have been a fun buying spree. Now it's time for me to enjoy using rather than collecting more. Good luck on the hunt for the perfect blue handle!

Hmm. Year of restraint. What a quaint idea. What have I purchased so far this year?
  • A full set of Tatara 3-piece razors from a generous member (these passarounds are awesome terrible for restraint).
  • A few more Stirling soaps (come on, I have to support an awesome vendor with an awesome product, even though I have not tried all varieties I ordered last year),
  • B&M Passafloria and Paganini's Violin. This is of course forgivable.
  • Yaqi Sagrada Familia 24 mm synthetic brush during recent sale from Asian website; I gave mine to a friend to start wet shaving, and he loves it. That karma certainly covers the replacement for restraint, because it was my first brush and I really really love the design and I have not found a knot that matches its performance.
  • $4 Proraso green on a site that shall not be named; that can't count because I gave my tube of Proraso green to that same friend.
  • Lapping film for learning to hone straight razors (I just picked up a piece of polished granite FREE from a kitchen renovation. That counts as restraint, right?)
  • Oh, and I had to get a Gold Dollar to learn to hone on, so as not to ruin the Dovo straight razor I got a great deal on. Oh, yeah, and the strop I just bought for maintenance. But  that's like a necessity, right?

So, I now have everything I will ever need. I will not be purchasing anything else this year. For sure. No, really.

Unless someone has a Gillette red tip they are parting with. No, really, nothing else. Honest.

hey! how goes the shavette? I see you have added a straight to the razor pack, and the Tatara set, nice! I go back and forth on the non-adjustable Tatara. But, I just had my Overlander plated in mirror nickel and it is my top DE. And a Vector is back in the shave drawer, in titanium which probably should use up all the shave funds for the year! I see maybe some blades and a soap or two now. Honestly, no need for anything, but who am I kidding. I am working on being more restrained instead of telling myself I can''t get anything!
