I think tomorrow when you get to 3...and the Wed #4 shave...you will have more to say. Between 2.5 to 4.5 is where this thing really shines, for me.
Good to know. Thanks and thanks for the compliment.

Jim...are you on Instagram?
No, I'm not. Never looked into it. Why do you ask?

Geez.....looks like I need to strike up an informal relationship with Murat because a titanium Sailor (something I considered as a gift for a friend a couple months ago) is calling me for my own use, hahaha. Counting on limited ordering from Bullgoose doesn't appeal to me at all, if & when the ti model happens.

Dialed it up to 4 tonight for the first time. Definitely more aggressive than anything I’ve owned recently but without any of the harshness.

It was a really unusual experience. I kept thinking it was too efficient, but I never felt any discomfort. The alcohol aftershave didn’t sting me like it doesn’t with milder razors. The only way I get bbs on my neck like I got tonight is from cartridge razors. Flawless shave.

I keep thinking the sailor titanium is going to be the dream, but can’t help but think the heft contributes a lot to the shave results.

What blade does everyone prefer? So far I’ve tried nacet, wizamet, polsilver, and and astra. My favorite is the wiz/pol but can’t help but feel there’s something better. Planning GSB, feather, and perma sharps next

Off to dry till the next shave

I get the smoothest shaves using Gillette Platinum. If I want something almost as sharp as Feather but smoother, I use Rapira Platinum Lux. For mildest and safest blades, either Astra SP or Tiger Platinum. A KAI blade with a setting of 3 on your razor will feel like a setting of 4, like tonight's shave.

A Feather on the lowest setting or .5 with heavy slick soap, blade feel disappears.

The razor is fully calibrated with a Feather blade installed. I told Murat that it was dangerous to ship a razor with a blade already installed without sharing that info with everyone. He responded that the reason is that the razor is calibrated with a Feather blade installed and he just never removed them.

Setting III. I wonder what I did wrong? Harsh shave both shallow and steep. I rarely get weepers and I had two of them today. After the first couple of strokes I stopped to double check the topcap and blade alignment. All good there. I did load a fresh Feather this morning. Maybe a dud? The little twist of the dial shouldn't make a night and day difference. Something was amiss that I need to figure out. Post shave feels fine, no redness, no razor burn and I am smooth.

Have a great day!
